I made a reasonable and inoffensive comment about religion then noticed Tony Kaye was around. I don't know who he is but he's previously banned me for similar comments under this screen name and a different one and I couldn't be assed going through all that again so I removed it.

Here's a simple solution to the superluminary neutrinos. Let's say all neutrinos are formed massless and have to travel at the speed of light. Now, what's to stop the neutrino gaining mass, either positive or negative in the same manner that it changes between flavors (maybe changing between flavors requires a

Yes, I was actually replying to another commenter, I don't remember who but he was saying a particle can't exceed the speed of light. He was using exceed in its meaning of accelerate past.

I'm no physicist, just what I learned at school but if a particle was accelerated very near to the speed of light, would the uncertainty principle ensure that its speed was indeterminate when measured so if we were measuring the speed of a neutrino it could tunnel through the speed of light barrier (in the same we we

Any massless particle can only travel at the speed of light. It can't speed up or slow down. Therefore if the neutrinos are actually travelling faster than light and the theory of relativity is to be preserved then two things follow

The theory of relativity only states that particles cannot move at the speed of light. It says nothing about faster than or slower than light.

I know very little about this technology but here's what I'm logically deducing.

Is there a way to tell if your credit card has an RFID embedded? Something like a logo or those little bumps you see if you hold the card a certain way.

Ha! What do we Americans care about other cultures' sensibilities?

Ok thanks. I didn't want it to look like I was on a spree! There are some good comments made and of course I'm not in any way biased.

Take a look at my post in #tips yesterday.

Hey Whitson, some of the posters below make good points or are an interesting and informative read however most of them need promoting for your wider audience to see and benefit. I'd do this myself but it's a little like abusing your system.

I was thinking of when you 'sleep' a laptop; the processor is still on. I think it may already be in a lowered state similar to underclocking. I keep a netbook on in sleep most of the time, periodically wakening it to enter data or update a log. I hate charging it because the cable is so short I have to move

This is a serious question - I'm not into hardware control. If one has a really fast computer and runs mundane stuff like Word or Excel, is it possible to underclock and get better battery life?

Hi, I just came across your comments about IE9 when I was searching for something else. You say your IE is slow and I see you have a 64bit install. If you are using IE9 64bit version it is significantly slower than the 32 bit version. The two versions are almost impossible to tell apart except from Help/About. Used

I'm probably a little cynical but this seems like just one more thing for hackers to target... it's the cloud, with ca$h - it doesn't get any better if money grew on trees.

Hit the nail on the head there.
