People are generally going to flock to the same 2 or 3 tones regardless of the options.

Microsoft doesn’t think you’ll own an Xbox and an Windows 10 laptop that you use in the same room. Saying “Hey Cortana” activates both.
Apple, for years, never had 7 engineers in a room with their phones off vibrate when a text message came in. There were 6 choices for text tones.
Apple also doesn’t think any of us…
I hate the concept of being “in a tax bracket”, and it leads to misunderstanding among many people.
If you’re in the 39.60% “tax bracket”, you’re also in the 10% one as well. So many people I’ve talked to think they have to stay out of a higher tax bracket because there is some magic point at the top end of the lower…
That was the first thing I noticed, but if someone really wanted to make this work, 5-10 more trays of guac astroturf could be kept on standby in the fridge, and deployed as needed, like chips at your favorite tex-mex joint.
Where does everyone else’s guacamole go?
You’re right. With both devices, it is the projectile that is banned, not the device itself.
I think it would take more than just switching to jellied fuel, though. Most of these devices are just creating a fuel-air mixture, and wouldn’t even be able to squirt a liquid.
The ones that can squirt gasoline or similar…
You did say “designed as war machines”, not “based on war machines”.
But, your point is valid. These can be very dangerous, and I do agree they are more dangerous than a paintball gun. No one should be using them as toys.
All that said, I think we do agree that based on damage you could do:
paintball gun < consumer…
Read my other comments. I’m not saying to ride the bumper in front of you. Give some room, that’s great.
Just don’t inch forward throughout the duration of the red light. Pick a spot and stay put until it is go time.
These types of devices were designed as war machines for burning out entire squads and causing as much carnage as possible.
If you want a car length of space for safety, that’s cool. Keep being safe.
If you start with 2 1/2 car lengths at the beginning of the red light and then end up 2 1/2 inches from the bumper in front of you by the time the light turns green, this isn’t about safety. You just can’t keep still for 60 seconds.

Seattle journalist Knute Berger tells Business Insider that Amazon’s original headquarters has displaced minority communities there, driven up housing costs, and swelled the city’s population of homeless people.
If someone is already on Whatsapp and resistant to Signal, I’ll talk to them on there. However, I trust Signal more than Whatsapp, because I know there will always be a lag between the time Signal fixes a security issue and Whatsapp adopts Signal’s fix.
I have started replying to SMS/MMS with a link to Signal and that I’m happy to continue the conversation there or on a phone call. I flat refuse to keep playing the SMS game.
H.265 requires paying royalties in most cases. Hardware and OS makers are not in a rush to make their product more expensive to produce.
Many keep hoping an open standard such as AV1 will save the day.
This would be a great time to remind everyone that Signal exists for free, works well on iOS and Android, and has the added benefit of being secure by default.
If I can get my friends to use it (half android, half iOS), then you likely can to.
I’m glad we have good options for every palate.
DD is the worst on the list for me, and Starbucks* the best, drinking them all black. There is this funk in DD coffee that I just can’t stand.
*Exclusion made for Starbucks Sumatra. That stuff is vile, and I’d gladly drink DD over that.
I’m glad Microsoft is finally making some baby steps here, but encryption needs to be “always on” rather than constantly re-enabled.
I’m so tired of having to convince people to enable encryption. Even when I tried to use Facebook Messenger’s private conversation feature, friends would start a new, non-encrypted chat…
StevenG, I agree and I’m generally pessimistic about CBP and TSA’s legalized bribe schemes.
That said, if they’re going to deny someone the ability to renew, they shouldn’t also keep them in the program for months.
It is yet another data point that proves that these programs are pointless.
The key take-away I have from this: He wasn’t immediately removed from the global entry system, or was contacted.
I remember a local cop one time did a background check of another cop, just for giggles. This was in the 1990's, but the FBI showed up THAT WEEK and asked why the other cop had a background check done. What…
