I fail to see how they forced the victims into anything. When you get sued, you pretty much have to defend yourself. If your neighbor sued you for no reason and you won, you would just eat the legal costs? Like no big deal? They went for a fat target with deep pockets. Unfortunately, that target was blameless.

Suppose they sued...you. After all, you had roughly as much to do with the shooting as Cinemark did. After you won, would you have no problem picking up the legal bills from the completely frivolous suit?
