Seriously you are defending selling cars based on a secret menu? Models not listed on the website when 80% of Tesla vehicles are ordered online?

There are more than 3 times as many CCS DC fast charger locations in the USA than Tesla Superchargers. You do have to be more proactive to find them because they are spread over about a dozen different networks.

That is my sweet spot too. I like to buy 3-4 year old cars with up to 60,000 miles. I generally pay 50 - 60% of MSRP depending on year and mileage. I drive them until they are 10 - 12 years old. I’ve had no issues with reliability with very little except for routine maintenance.    Beyond 10 - 12 years old the sun

I don’t get why all sedans aren’t hatchbacks or wagons.   Why pay for a less functional vehicle?

Half of a childless couple here. We own 4 door vehicles. Why? We have friends and it is very poor form to expect adults to crawl into the back of a 2 door car.

You just described why the 2 door hatch is dead. It costs an automaker more to design, test, certify, and tool multiple versions of a car. A 2 door hatch costs almost as much as a 4 door to build - the difference is tiny. However, customers expect to spend thousands less for the 2 door. Over the years companies

The $35,000 base Model 3 was offered for sale February 28th 2019. 8 week later it was pulled from the website.  Yes, supposedly the base Model 3 was available on a secret menu after that if you called them and asked to buy it. In May 2019 the price on the secret menu base Model 3 was increased to $35,400. Best case

I shopped TDI Sportwagens in 2014. They were in high demand and not selling for $10K off MSRP.

Yes, the base version will go on sale last just like the Model 3 and Model Y. Then it will be sold for a couple months tops and discontinued.  That is the pattern from the Model 3 and Y.

It would take 28 $500 repairs to wipe out the $14,000 I saved buying a 4 year old car with 42K miles. It came with a 2 year CPO warranty and the powertrain warranty just expired last year.

I don’t see the Cybertruck being a hit either. It is too big for the global market and too weird for the domestic market. Sure some people will buy them but I see it being closer to Model X volume than Model Y.

I vote Rivian too.

A car without a warranty isn’t a big deal if you have an emergency fund to pay for the unlikely repair.

You answered it in your second paragraph. The VAST majority of people aren’t taking out 4 year loans. In 2019 the average loan term on a new car was 69 months. Front loading a loan and then going for years without a payment is smart but most people stretch it out and always have a car payment. By the time the car is

Luxury brands are another level of financial fitness before they can start making sense to splurge on.

A $560 a month full-size truck payment isn’t the path out of poverty.

The federal government also increased unemployment by an additional $600 a week on top of regular unemployment payments and extended it to gig workers and the self employed.   2/3rds of laid off workers made more on unemployment than when working.

True. A new car is a luxury item best reserved for when the household finances are in good order.

Yes, the Ram was a very expensive vehicle if he had a $560 a month payment. That is financing $39,000 on today’s typical 0% for 72 month loan. It is a $30,000 loan financed at a predatory 10% interest rate.

Did you even read his comment? Alpha Hooning didn’t say pay cash for everything and never use credit. He said don’t be underwater on a car loan - never own more than your car is worth. That way if you lose your job and can’t make payments you can sell the car and get out from under the payment.Had Mr. Goodman sold is
