1. The Clean Air Act does not apply to your 65 Mercury. It was build before the law existed and is exempt.

There are no regulations that make steel bumper difficult. The regulations are lax enough that they aren’t required.

Well 1 of the 4 cars you mentioned were a sales success. I worked for Delphi supplying interiors to Mercedes back in the mid-00's and the German resistance to cup holders back then was hilarious.

If you take away things like automatic transmissions, infotainment systems and power windows you will increase the cost of the vehicle because the design work and tooling for those options will be spread over a very low volume.

He will have two options for a car size truck next year with the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. However, they will be unibody and include things like power windows so he will likely dismiss them and pine for something that will never be built.

A lot of work went into improving sightlines on the new Western Star 49X.

Installing an aftermarket exhaust that is not certified to meet EPA noise and emission standards is illegal under federal law and  therefore illegal in every state.  It has been since the 70's.

I do pay $7500 in federal income taxes, there is no sales tax in my state, I buy cars with cash. Whether the $10,000 comes off the purchase price or comes back as a tax credit doesn’t change what the vehicle costs me.

The only electric CUV sold in the USA that is cheaper than the ID.4 is the Hyundai Kona which is only sold in select states. It is a class smaller and starts at $38,365

In my state it will be $10,000 cheaper than MSRP. ($7,500 Federal EV tax credit + a $2,500 Oregon EV rebate)

The next time mine hydrolocks I’m having it towed to a dealer and fixed. Hopefully it happens in town. When it happened last year I was on the side of a mountain in a snowpark, at 3 pm on a Sunday, 200 miles from home.

From vehicles available today for sale in the USA: Toyota RAV4 PHEV

The US fertility rate was above replacement rate (2.1 births per woman) until 1972

It does seem to be hit or miss but more common where cold temperatures exist along with high humidity.  The low pressure EGR routes moist air through the intercooler where it freezes. The dieselgate fix made it worse by increasing EGR.

It has been a few years but when I was delivery newspapers you could either deduct actual expenses or use the IRS rate per mile.

I don’t have a problem with immigration - we need more of it.

Yes, I’ve been a member at tdiclub for almost 2 decades.

The USA has the same demographic problem as the EU.   Our native born population’s birth rate is below the replacement rate and the only way we are still growing is due to immigration.    We have historically been more open to immigration but that seems to be changing now that we are on a glide path for whites to make

The delusion was / is odd. The idea the the EU needs the UK more than the UK needs the EU never made sense.

I’m partial to my Chrome Bravo backpack. Clip in the chest strap (it is a little seat belt buckle) and it is rock solid. I used a Chrome messenger bag for 15 years and it was still watertight before switching to the backpack.
