I’d also contend that the folding method is not what the “Konmari Method” is even about — it’s the tackling of the broken down categories in a particular order, and the thanking things for having served their purpose/letting go. Everything else is just the putting of stuff away, and I don’t think she’s ever claimed

Well clearly after all these years, you know how my mind works. In fact three 95 year olds died in the last few days: two time Oscar nominee Sylvia Miles, uber director Franco Zeffirelli and Gloria Vanderbilt. All lived life to the fullest and left legacies of great work.

Gloria did lead a very fabulous life, though I admit I first thought of Cooper when I heard she was dead. Not because her son is her greatest claim to fame, but because I knew they were incredibly close and it was hard not to think about him losing his mom right then.

Somebody’s missing a baby you say?

ROLLING CLOTHES WAS MY BABY. I feel like they’ve stolen my baby!

Even if you’re not organized, go to the middle of the first episode of her Netflix show and watch the folding of clothes. It takes the same amount of time and your clothes fit better in the drawers and you can see them all at once.

Some folks would like to have a word with you about your claim. :p

And unless Kondo, Coopersmith or whoever actually filed for and received a patent for this folding method, it’s not a violation of anything legally.

John Hodgman has the same haircut and moustache as me, where’s my fucking cheque?

Lol. My mom used to do that when some of goodwills would offer clothes for $5 a bag. She would stuff those bags full to bursting.

I mean, I’ve been doing that same technique since long before Kondo was famous. A friend told me that she did it, and the appeal was obvious, so I spent 45 minutes re-folding my clothes and that was it. You can’t copyright “how to organize clothes,” that’s not how that works.

And encouraging people to not hold onto things they don’t want/need. She is not famous for a folding technique.

People in Beverly Hills are so fucking delusional and self-important. It’s truly something to behold.

Yeah, I love how these people are like, “she just has good marketing!” And I think, yeah she does, what’s your point?

RIP to the world’s most fabulous hoarder, Gloria Vanderbilt.

Woman who charges $$$ to organize a closet angry at woman who writes books about organizing closets.

Agreed. She just took professional organizing to the masses. Most people can’t afford to hire a professional organizer but lots of people have access to the internet. Kondo’s detractors are just mad they didn’t think of it first.

I never thought she was doing anything new or particularly different. It is just organizing stuff.

We disagree with Kondo’s methods and she stole them from us!
