I think the scariest thing about the Shining for me was them being all alone in a giant place meant to be filled with people. I think it tapped into my fear of being locked inside the mall after closing time.

Are you really Stephen King???

Just try that with the little dudes from Puppetmaster!

I thought Fargo was pretty scary, considering how out of hand things got so quickly. The scene where Peter Stromare chases down those witnesses on the icy road is genuinely terrifying as well.

Where is Random Simpson's Quote Generator when we need him??? Something about dogs with bees in their mouths that shoot bees when they bark…

True. I would love if horror films cast actors for effectiveness and chops rather than just trying to find the next teenage heartthrob.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I think the fact that Catholicism is such a major religion has something to do with Dowd's reaction. We still may find movies centered on more "mysterious" or "fringe" religions scary despite the fact that we do not actually practice Voodoo, etc. There's a defiant "stick it to the man" feeling to not finding a

Me too. I find myself worrying whether the universe will end in eternal heat death or a Big Crunch. Once we figure out how to save the planet, we will have to kickstart the "Save the Universe" campaign.

Monster Squad?

The scaries part of most horror movies, for me at least, is that part where the heroine finally finds someone to help her (a police car, a kindly old man, etc.) only to slowly realize that they are actually in cohoots with the bad guy and things just got even worse!

It's funny you mention Schindler's List (ha!), because I was just thinking a movie like that scares me more than intentional horror films. Concentration camps and WW2 era Europe were the closest thing to Hell on Earth I can imagine.

Do you at least give him points for TRYING to adapt Dune to film? It's no easy task and I think he did admirably.

Well YOU obviously aren't a TRUE horror film aficionado, then.

In the Mouth of Madness is the only movie I recall that truly frightened me. Probably the sense of looming H.R. Geiger insanity around every corner. The contorted spider-lady probably did it too.

I may be a rebel for saying this, but I found Ghostbusters more funny than scary.

To this day I catch myself singing "The cheesecake boat's a-comin we'll party tonight! Cheesecake boat's a-comin we'll party tonight!"

Jennifer Lawrence'a butthole is not on trial here!

You either die a hero or fail to successfully hide your internet history.

And they're royally pissed!
