Obviously I’m going through it right now, but really - is choosing not to be force-fed garbage ads (in the one scenario where refusing is possible) really “being above the system?” How many ads do we have to deal with? They’re on cable, on TV, on your dealer-equipped license plate frame, in apps, on the radio -

Here’s a dose of realism: I don’t give a fuck what using Adblock does to people, I don’t care if Youtube “celebs” get paid less because of me, I DO NOT CARE, because nobody should be paid millions of dollars to scream and make faces into a webcam, and I have been advertised to constantly for literally my entire life.

I’

I plan on doing something like this for the winter, but with an ‘03 Jetta instead.

Absolutely incorrect. Are you in first-year Industrial Design? You sure sound like it.

Nope.

Let’s be honest, those aren’t the worst wheels ever made. They kind of suit the car, actually, although the offset is a bit wonky. And the radio not working is probably an easy fix. Considering these things were almost $500k new, this is a pretty good deal.

It’s a very different feel without the airbrushed robots on the side, and with the addition of a BMW roundel, though. Right?

I love how they believe that. It’s only the first step if you believe that in the future, every possible treadable surface will be made of copper... It’s only a hoverboard if it works across any material.

Is this accurate? Serious question. I can see how adding inverse noise can reduce perceptible noise, but don’t your eardrums still experience more stress?

They are, but it’s not for taxi purposes, and it’s really just the same car as it used to be. Same bodyshell, same design, etc. Not practical for a modern cab.

The issue here is that the original London cab was designed with far more practicality than the Checker. Both were purpose-built IIRC, but the London cab by default had a higher roofline and more luggage space - similar to a minivan or a modern SUV. This bodystyle is pretty much the only acceptable type nowadays, so

Oh, I love noise. I have a Magnaflow with a butterfly valve to a short straight-pipe on my VR6. I’m simply saying that a person who bought an electric car in the first place is not the type of person to install a noisy ICE when something goes wrong.

Maybe you would, but you don’t own a Tesla (you would have said so if you did). Tesla owners specifically purchased an electric car because they wanted an electric car. If they’d wanted a slower, noisier car, they’d have bought an AMG or something in the first place.

Except “going big” in your case requires sacrificing performance and comfort. Sure, you can squeeze P85D-levels of power out of an LS or 2JZ, but that would require lumpy cams, or laggy turbos etc, and the addition of an inefficient transmission. You’d lose the total smoothness, unbeatable, uninterrupted torque curve,

Way to totally jack peoples’ Youtube hits. Really, tho? Compliation videos? Christ, do something original for once. And by that, I don’t mean post about Japanese fuckery. Maybe go out and make your own playthrough videos. But nah, that’d be too self-sufficient. This site’s ethics are lacking.

When you think about it, autonomous cars are great for gearheads. It makes all the idiot drivers on the road faster, yet more predictable. No more stop-and-go, if the latency between cars gets smaller. No more surprise moves that could get anyone killed. Just a fast-moving sea of slalom cones that can be overtaken at

You know, you could just buy a couple-year-old base WRX or whatever and used the money you saved to get the interior upholstered to whatever spec you wanted. I’ve seen people do crazy stuff, but you can spend as much or as little as your heart desires...

Something tells me that BMW will invest a lot of money into anything they do in order to maintain their brand integrity. They’ll be under lots of scrutiny and they likely are smart enough to overcompensate somewhat in order to prove their mettle in a new market.

It was a terrible car because the only thing it did well was last long. Shit interior, shit drivetrain, shit everything else. I’m sorry, but if you say “yeah they were better with upgrades” and you think that justifies it being a good car, you’re flat-out high. Ancient, plastic, turd. Bye.
