I actually read this and despite its xenophobia and the fact that the pilgrim character is a bit of a tool, it's a pretty great book.

It's there to rattle the cage of your entitlement.

Why does Patrick Stewart look like bald Jackie Chan?

Have you looked up Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving, the historical figures Gus and Call are based on?

They might have tried to disguise him in a C. Everett Coop beard, but I already figured out who the local hero on this show is. Guess I'll stop watching.

People that liked season 2 of true detective were likers. Not sure why you are calling them defenders, like opinions on art and entertainment are sport. So it's your first Sunday without True Detective Season 2 to kick around. Guess you'll whine about on some other HBO shows thread. It's almost like you miss it. Boo

I'll say season 2 was more entertaining than season 1. While the first season was more artistically controlled and cohesive, season 2 was over the top and seemed like a mish mash of 80's cop movies, David Lynch, grand theft auto and Cormac McCarthy. I enjoyed watching it at that level, not as a serious intricate drama

It's much better than you've been lead to believe.

What Winslow book were the Cohen's adapting?

True detective of season 2: Teague, that hung over, flatulent, half headed SOB

Exactly."trope" "cliche" "hack" word poop.

Groan.

YA-Y, True Detective, you get the grade you deserve.

Could it be worse than sibling week? Wake me up when it's toilet week, at least we'll be covering Bukowski, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting and the AV Club.

Theme week. We get it. Give it up. 52 weeks a year how long can you keep this up. It's like the av clubs been taken over by the home coming dance comittee. Also, that one ad window that looks like a jail cell, but could be a trashy sexual hole…why, really, why.

Calling this season of true detective a dumpster fire is hack and cliche, like most of the criticism I've read. Try something in the new vernacular, like blue balls in my cerebellum, or monkey fuck, or a dirty hippy unicorn hunt.

Of the shows running this summer, with the exception of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel, the first one I would fire up on my DVR is True Detective. Sorry Mr. Robot (enjoying your Fight Club era Fincher fetichism/rad show font) and Hannibal (episode 306 was insanity).

Haters gonna hate. It's almost like last year Nic Pizzolatto asked the TV Critics Association and Reddit if they wanted to go to the forest and see a unicorn.

I'm firmly with the season two True D Backlash Backlashers. So is Adam Scott. #STTDBBUTU2TM

More like a mob from Pitchfork.
