While the first season was more artistically controlled and cohesive, season 2 was over the top and seemed like a mish mash of 80's cop movies, David Lynch, grand theft auto and Cormac McCarthy. Of the shows running this summer, with the exception of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel, the first one I would fire up on my DVR is True Detective. Sorry Mr. Robot (enjoying your Fight Club era Fincher fetichism/rad show font) and Hannibal (episode 306 was insanity).
