I can't wait! As a trade paperback reader, I hope vol. 1 comes out before the end of the year…

I've never played the series. We can choose our own race? So I can be Latino or Asian if I want? Or are they all white elves and white dwarves?

LASERFROG ON KOTAKU?!

"But with the blast shield down, I can't even see! How am I supposed to fight?"

Uh, haven't you ever been to Tijuana? American tourists have been posing with zonkeys for years.

You're right, there are some people who disagree with her who aren't straight white males. But I'm willing to bet the vast majority are.

All these angry comments from straight white males make me ashamed to be a straight white male.

If the majority of the population pronounces a word a certain way, isn't that the de facto correct pronunciation? That's how language evolves.

Any tantalizing video highlights? Oh wait...

"If we cannot pass over the mountain, let us go under it! Let us go through the mines of Moria!"

It's not that hard to exit the game and start a new one with the same settings.

If you want to read about Peter Parker, there are TONS of other Spider-Man series out there starring Peter Parker that you can read. Ultimate Spider-Man isn't even the "main" Spider-Man title. And isn't the whole point of the Ultimate Universe to re-imagine Marvel heroes in a unique way?

You're saying if I don't like something, I should shut up and play something else? You're right.

No. What I'm saying is that just because there are worse forms of torture doesn't make the lesser forms justified. That's like saying "murdering one person is laughable, because some murderers kill dozens of people!" It's still murder. Murder is murder.

You're right. But if the gaming community can spark more discussions like this, maybe one day game writing will advance past that "generic action movie rip-off" stage.

Torture is torture. Some forms are worse than others, but none of it is justifiable. Especially by a country like the U.S. that considers itself a symbol of freedom and democracy.

When it's done right, torture scenes in games and TV shows have context and a human element. You mentioned Lost, and the whole torture subplot of Lost is all about Sayid being emotionally scarred by his past as an interrogator.

I do consider "enhanced interrogation" to be torture. Maybe you think waterboarding is "laughable," but I don't.

You're right. There's a blurry line between interrogation and torture when it comes to modern counterterrorism, though, and that's what bothers me.
