Maybe a manual one. But something like an E30, Miata, manual Ford Focus, manual accord/Mazda 6 or something similar would be more like what he is thinking of I imagine. Something with a communicative enough chassis and steering to teach you about weight transfer and under/oversteer without having enough power to

Because I'm replacing the rod bearings.

It reminds you of the back of a first gen Honda Odyssey.

I have a 97 so no vanos, but what you have said basically confirms what I had thought I would need to do. I have access to alldata so getting torque specs isn’t a problem and I’ve already ordered everything I need to reseal the timing cover and valve covers. I didn’t know about the crank bolt needing to be replaced so

The tensioners aren't plastic, only the guides are.

Any tips for someone who is about to replace the timing chain guides and rod bearings in an M62B44?

“Because gosh darn it, they were so darn effective at saving lives.” The amount this phrase sounded like Dr. Cox from Scrubs is unbelievable.

The only appropriate response to what that guy did.

You don't have even the vaguest understanding of the ramifications of what the FBI wants Apple to do, do you?

Yeah I didn’t think it was a V8 either when I first saw one racing. 3.4 liters sounds pretty awesome at 10k rpm.

Now playing

The Honda HSV010 sounds pretty fucking crazy.

Literally every major manufacturer that has participated in racing has cheated. And if you don’t like cheaters you must REALLY hate all of VW considering relatively recent events.

Apple has pretty explicitly stated that they do not under any circumstances plan to do that unless they are forced to do so.

Why so butt hurt?

This is exactly the reason I got rid of my V8 SHO.

This guy gets it. When BMW makes a car as pure as the E30/36/46 or E39 I’ll pay attention. Until then i’ll pass.

Not as much so as you think. You could easily make up that extra burnt fuel by driving the speed limit on the highway and being gentle with the gas around town. Not saying I do that, just that the amount of fuel idling consumes is pretty negligible in the larger scheme of things.

Idling actually uses very very little fuel.

Sorry but they are without a doubt credible terrorist threats. Just because one person was too stupid to execute his attack in an effective way, that doesn't mean all attackers will do the same.

I get the same shit now that I own an E39. And comments about how it must be nice to be really wealthy and I’m just sitting here like “it cost 3 grand, fuck off.”
