Its not as wide as a vic, but a 4.6 DOHC would fit under the hood and that trans would most likely fit. The axle wouldn’t, but the live axle would ruin that car anyways. If a 4.6 DOHC can fit in a taurus, it can fit in the LS.

Especially seeing as how the V8 was auto only. 4.6 DOHC+mercury marauder trans with double wishbones at all 4 corners and call it a day. It would have been one hell of a car with a bulletproof motor.
