It’s unfortunate that most unions force plants and businesses to function in that way. Dialogue between the people who design things and the people build those things is probably the best way to produce a quality product that is easy to manufacture. It’s one of the reasons im going to be a machinist for 5 years or so

I’m training to be a CNC machinist right now and there are a handful of kids in my class that are like that. They come in with rum on their breath or with insanely blood shot eyes. I self identify as someone who smokes weed and I would never EVER go to work under the influence of anything. I seriously can't wrap my

100% agreed. The UAW should also fuck off about the employees ford fired because of massive amounts of sexual harassment complaints. Unions have their place and lately the UAW has been majorly over stepping the bounds.

It can be bolted to the manual from a first gen Mazda 6 V6. Which is also lighter than the shitty slushbox it has from the factory :)

Oh I agree 100%. Your swap is MUCH more sensible and ultimately better because parts support for the V8 SHO is essentially non-existent. The main reason I suggested the V8 SHO motor is because I wanna see it swapped into something.

That would be awesome too. It’d almost sound like a 2 stroke at idle like the original sonnet.

Oh I’m sure it would be a TON of work and a ton of fabrication. If I decide to attempt it, it won’t be for a few years because by then I’ll well into engineering school and I’ll have my own mill and lathe.

First gear: Takata says “Fuck you and your face mutilated by our air bags. That is all.”

Agreed. Make it look professional and have just the intake runners poking through the hood ever so slightly.

You over estimate how much power the SHO V8 has(235bhp and 220isTq) and it's weight(370 pounds wet). The other thing to keep in mind is that because it's an NA DOHC V8, it doesn't make too much TQ or hp below 3500 rpm.

Dammit I hate you. Now I want a fleet of sonnets!

Haha I didn’t pick it Cuz it’s transversely mounted, I picked it because I own a taurus SHO with that motor and the motor deserves so much more than a Taurus SHO as a home. It’s light and rev happy and powerful enough to make a sonnet very fast without making it a huge handful. It also sounds absolutely fantastic.

There aren't that many engineering hurdles to overcome when it comes to mounting the SHO V8 Longitudinally. The oil pump is on the right end of the motor for a longitudinal mount because it's based off of the Duratec V6 which saw transverse and longitudinal mounts. There would be teething issues for sure, but it just

I agree it would be pretty cool, but ever since I bought my taurus SHO, all I have wondered is “I wonder what a much lighter small car would be like with this motor hitched to a manual.” It is incredibly light for a DOHC V8(370ish pounds) and because it's DOHC, it is very rev happy.

The SHO V8 is still in the family. Unlike the V6’s before it, the V8 is based off of fords duratec V6, Yamaha did the heads and valve train though. They would both be cool swaps though, and are both reasons why more Jalops need to win the lottery.

That would be an interesting swap too! But surprisingly there isn’t much difference in size between a 13B and the V8 SHO when you factor in the turbo and all its plumbing. The V8 is actually lighter too lol.

Boooooo. LS swaps are so played out and a sonnet doesn’t need a ton of hp and tq, plus it's not at all an under appreciated motor. Which is one of the reasons the SHO swap is appealing.

The thing you aren’t taking into account is that the SHO V8 is very small. It’s only 3.4 liters and because it’s based on a V6, its a 60 degree V, not a 90 degree V like most V8s it’s very narrow . It would more than likely fit. It fits in a taurus after all.

Oh god. I'm getting ideas. V8 SHO swapped Saab sonnet. Odd under appreciated car with an odd under appreciated motor. It must be a thing!

So I assume I’m not the only one who wishes this piece of shit got shot...right?
