That’s true for nearly every city ...except LA. While most host cities end up crippled with debt (Montreal’s was staggering, and IIRC they will never pay it off fully), or get saddled with dozens of disposable infrastructure “improvements” that paper over deep-seated problems and remain white elephants for decades

I’m not seeing the “asshole” part. Why do people think this? Rich grandpa + “brand” + LA + NFL?

When you become outraged at everything, you are outraged at nothing.

The sheer randomness of their inception, though, means it would be totally fine if we one day decided to change them, too.

all birth certificates are non-gender specific.

ALL OF THEM.

they list sex. stop purposefully conflating the two to make points.

I agree, plus sex isn’t the same as gender. There’s nothing wrong with recognizing a child’s sex at birth while making zero assumptions about their future gender (or sexuality) provided you give them options to identify correctly down the line.

I don’t suppose it matters on the birth certificate, but it does seem a little foolish to just pretend sex has no relationship to health. You don’t need to force anything on a child, but that is medically necessary information regardless of what gender, if any, the child identifies with.

Honestly he can just scream at Boston media all he wants in general. Fuck those hacks.

Nothing stops the richest owners in MLB or the English Premier League or La Liga from doing that, and those sports are doing pretty okay. In any case, I’m not arguing that getting rid of the cap/max/draft (abolish all three!) would be some utopian solution. I’m simply observing that none of those three really deliver

You’re misunderstanding the argument, I think. It’s not that they would be able to pay more than those teams—maybe they wouldn’t. It’s that they have to pay more than those teams, under any circumstances, in order to make up for Utah being a less desirable location for someone who can make a lot more money on

This is easily the dumbest thing I’m going to read all day. Which is impressive since it’s not even noon yet.

“I remember when I had 14 home runs,” Morrison said. “That was a month and a half ago.”

Who the fuck told Hernandez he was a good ump?

No you don’t. He should be discriminated against. Not because of racial reasons, but because he’s terrible at his job.

I’m not here to say whether Torre is a bigot or not, Hernández may have a point in regards to white umps getting promoted. I do know that Hernández doesn’t get to work World Series games because he’s a fucking terrible umpire.

You have to give him credit for having the discipline to write the entire complaint in Braille.

I know it’s an exhibition, but big props to the goalie for even ATTEMPTING to stand in Marshawn’s way. A manlier move than any of the Portuguese national diving team.

Right, because what we really need is an organizations that can make us look as terrible to the public eye as the NRA does to gun owners.

Man, that Penn State shit was fucked up! Damn.
