I was at a Kroger that had separate special spots for Low Emission (35MPG+ it said) and electric vehicles.

Does the whole “thank you for your service” thing get awkward?

I stopped telling people that I’m a veteran (in real life, obviously.)

I’m in the Navy but I’d never put a plate (or sticker, magnet, etc.) on my car that identifies my affiliation with the military for the same reason I don’t put anything on my car that affiliates me with political parties, companies, sports teams, etc. - besides being tacky (IMHO), there are just too many nut jobs and

Yeahh... no your passat would not make it through the hunting property I hunt on... it just does not have the ground clearance... that’s the big problem. There are spots where you car would bottom out and be resting on the rails.. it’s just not possible.

Any vehicle whether it be a truck, SUV or car is technically a “luxury” item.

What is success to you? Means nothing? Almost everything you buy is depreciating. Should we buy nothing? Should we all rent our entire lives, drive 10 year old Corollas with cash and do what?

Because he’s in Anaheim. But it’s the thought that counts.

Really, you are kinda judging by a wide ruler aren’t you? Those 90% who finance their cars are stupid?

ROFL NO! They’re not smart! Almost 90% of people finance their cars and a quarter of those are people with awful credit! And the top purchases are SUVs and Trucks! I see you write this stuff and it screams neon signs and payday loans. My gawd people are blind. Not being labeled as a minivan driver is a valid reason?

I don’t think you see what most people see. Because wagons are dying and SUVs are growing. Otherwise that wouldn’t be the case.

The whole car market is consumerism. It based on what you want, not on what you need.

I could argue the statistics but you are right, a vast majority of SUV/Truck owners don’t need them. But judge each case individually ;-) because there are some people out there who have a legitimate need for them. I’m with you though, nothing pisses me off more than seeing some dude in a ford F350 with like 38 inch

Oh I absolutely agree, I can’t tell you how many big ass monster truck type pickup trucks I have seen driving around in the city and they won’t have a spec of mud on them... hell even the under carriage is perfectly clean... those people are douchebags.

See, thats the misconception everyone in the US has cause they mostly see some wino of a suburban soccer mom go pick her kids up from school and soccer practice between hangovers in an SUV. Somewhere else here someone chimed in “virtually all SUV owners” they’re wrong they should’ve stated “virtually all US SUV

In all fairness you don’t “need” to live in the country. You don’t “need” to hunt. You don’t “need” to tow a boat. I don’t “need” any of that either but since my recreation consists of towing big things, I have a big truck. Need has nothing to do with it...what I want does.

There are only so many times I can say ‘fair comment’ to the people who say ‘don’t click’ so this will be my last.

As much as I love Jalopnik, you can’t seriously be considering continuing FTA without Tyler’s analysis? There are only so many ‘shocking drone videos’ we can take or ‘this one trick that makes ISIS mad’ posts.

Oops, did we turn that on?

Or go for a hike in the mountains and forget to set the parking brake, only coincidently the day after you get gap insurance.
