Seconding the Irons audiobook.  The audio book does lose a few of the textual games played by Humbert/Nabokov, but it is absolutely worth it to hear Humbert mimic Dolores's voice — it really emphasizes the degree of control that he holds on his narrative.  We never see Dolores Haze — just the fictional figure Humbert

Oh, that's a bummer.  I had read a few positive reviews and was looking forward to it. It's on the shelf, but it might get bumped by a few slots.

I read Marvel Comics: The Untold Story last week and, like most, I loved it.  However, the last few chapters really do drag, when the story shifts from Stan v. Jack stories or from Starling, Englehart, and Gerber being awesome to lawsuits between disinterested owners.  I ended up skimming pages, waiting for Bill Jemas

Exactly. I was so angry with the whole Rita storyline that I actually believed AD was going to do the stupid sentimental ending, which made the payoff that much better.

I've listened to about 10 episodes, @avclub-7e345f284c5e5ebc951bfbf13681c5ac:disqus , which seems to me like enough for a representative sample, but I didn't listen to any of the episodes you list, so I may have just caught anomalies.

In my opinion, the best episodes are the Mirrors and Prom Night episodes — lots of good riffing.

Yeah, Bill and Ted's 69 isn't the first dirty joke I got, but it was the earliest one I remember not getting — I laughed at it because everything Bill and Ted said was funny, but was quickly reprimanded by my parents — and then figuring out much, much later.

I saw Pinetop in late 2010, with Willie Big Eyes Smith.  The man only had use of a few fingers on one hand, kept singing the same verse of "Mojo Working," and was visibly annoyed with the woman who kept trying to duet with him, and was still awesome.

Oh man.  Thank you for the heads up.  HDTGM is really hit or miss for me, so I don't subscribe to it, but I just watched Sleepaway Camp for the first time a few weeks ago and … oh man.
