EDITED: Dude, your Scientific American article is making a bad comparison. It’s comparing the emissions of a Toyota Prius to those an EV, not comparing a traditional ICE-only car to those of an EV. It’s parroting the same tired old “Let the States Decide!” argument that conservatives so love to trot out to stop

Also, unlike what a certain long poster upthread indicates, the grid is moving toward being green too. It just takes awhile. So while things are moving toward a single-point pollution source, that single point is also slowly getting reduced.

You make a lot of good points and thanks for the sources, but overall I have to point out - you seem to be advocating for perfection when what we need is progress. As the original article states, we’ve known for 50 years (actually, even as far back as the late 1800's people realized CO2 was changing the atmosphere)

Also a lot of modern Lovecraft inspired work does engage with his awful racism and xenophobia - Lovecraft Country being one of many recent ones that included a TV show on HBO.

That’s literally not the EPA’s job. Their job is to set standards to keep air (and other) pollution minimized. The industry’s job is to find ways to do that - maybe following what other countries have managed to do already.

Two things funny about this:

you misunderstand, i cant imagine giving a single solitary shit about fps

“if it doesnt have 69 yottapixels resolution and 420 gigaframes per second its shit”

That’s always been the case?! The standards are set by the government and the industry figures out how to do that. Sometimes with actual innovation and sometimes with magical thinking math.

Toyota has Remote Connect, for example, which lets you remotely lock, unlock, or start your car from a smartphone app

I feel like these Steam Deck competitors are missing the point of the Steam Deck. We’ve had portable devices that can run PC games well before the Steam Deck. But the reason the Steam Deck made it work is because:

They usually can’t define it because what it really means to them is: “A slur I’m still allowed to say”

It’s. About. Integrity. In. Games. Journalism.

You need to look deeper into things that DeSantis has actually done and you’ll realize he’s an actual fascist. He unconstitutionally fired a duly elected state attorney, personally redistricted the state (again, unconstitutionally), gutted a liberal arts college because it was a liberal arts college and forced in far

An attempt was made. A failed fascist policy is still a fascist policy.

Fuck, are we now going to have to be nostalgic about corporate marketing events?!?

No. People in buses should most definitely NOT have to wait in the same traffic as cars. Private cars are the least efficient way to get around, and should be penalized as such.

I can’t speak for New York, but “tax the cyclists” certainly comes up plenty in Toronto from people who are utterly ignorant to what actually funds our local infrastructure (the city budget which is primary funded by property and other general taxes that *everyone including cyclists* pay).

In the past I’ve put more miles on my normal bike (2,000) as opposed to my car (1,500). However now I have a job where I have to show up and be presentable, and there aren’t any showers. And it’s 10 miles away.
