There are custom-made protective cars for that, but they generally look like, you know, cars. Even the President’s limo looks pretty normal from the outside. They have reinforced body panels and bulletproof glass, etc., but they don’t shout to the world “look at this rich idiot, what a great kidnapping target he’d

They spent a lot of time on the exterior and not much on the “airport rental, but we upgraded you for free and I don’t know why this non-smoking car smells like smoke” interior.

Super fucking weird conservatives are Big Mad about video game consoles shutting themselves off. Between this and going super hard against M&M, what the fuck kind of media play is this?

From a managerial standpoint, I’m with you. You’re on top of your work, who cares if you putz around a bit in some downtime.

I love how "I like to do my own research" has become such a convenient shorthand for me to instantly dismiss the person saying it as a complete fúcking moron.

It’s really terrible when people jump to disrespectul conclusions. Anyway, like I was saying, most western men are feminine and weak...

Electricity is regulated. They can’t just increase their prices or drop them. Standard rates are approved by the state energy regulators. If you contract outside of standard rates (where rates are not regulated) you can always opt back into the standard rate.

I have over 4 years left on a 100% renewable contract...at 14 cents for power and delivery charges. Looking at the market place now, there is a 3 month contract for 10.8 cents (again power and delivery). YMMV.

why are you using more than 500kwh a month?  thats ridiculous.

It easy to forget about the bill you don’t have to pay and focus on the one that is due. I am bracing for my first electric/gas bill in the eight months since switching to solar. I will just sum up all the utility bills for the same period from prior year, and then decide.

This is an anti EV thing that AEG’s been pushing for years, even Jalopnik’s sister site has an article debunking this https://cleantechnica.com/2021/10/26/about-that-scary-evs-cost-more-to-fuel-study-not/.

Uh, what? This smells like bullshit to me.

My Chevy Bolt uses about 29Kwh to drive 100 miles.
I pay .25 per Kw to charge at home. That’s $7.25 for 100 miles.

My gas car gets about 22 mpg combined, for 100 miles that’s 4.5 gallons @ $4/gal = $18 in regular gas for 100 miles.

At a previous employer, our “Executive Management” decided that the support staff should write all of the knowledge base articles as part of their case troubleshooting, thus eliminating the need for technical writing staff.

but are the actual shitty workers getting called out? or they don’t get picked because they’re friends with so and so all buddybuddy

On the macro economic level, it is not great that people aren’t leasing.  On a personal finance level, these articles are right--leasing is typically a poor financial decision.  With the rise in leasing costs it has only gotten worse.

Or ask them about the Dixie Chicks.

Was a toss-up, not gonna lie.

Gotta love the optics of a rich executive whining about “cancel culture” 24 hours before cancelling the jobs of 10,000 people.

The absolute tone-deafness displayed by having Sting play a private concert to MS executives in the fucking Swiss Alps the night before announcing 10,000 layoffs is incomprehensible to me. Just some Bond-villian fucking bullshit.

Right?  So many people whine about cancel culture, and yet no one has ever actually been canceled because people can’t be canceled.  They can be fired, they can be imprisoned, they can be taken to court, but they still exist, and all of the “canceled” celebrities are still making more money than the rest of us.
