I really liked that they brought up the fact that last season Clarke let that bomb drop on Ton DC without warning anyone tonight (and could have very easily killed Octavia in the process.) Because I had almost completely forgotten about that.

You say re-watch Season 1, I counter with re-watch Season 2, this current Bellamy we're seeing on screen has definitely regressed to what Season 1 Bellamy was like, but I think that disregards all the character development that happened over the course of Season 2.
