Way too damn much photoshop. I remember the days when do have a badass cosplay picture you had to physically find a suitable setting for the picture. Now you can get away with just shopping in a suitable setting. :-/

Well, I like the system used in Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, for it doesn't take away the mystical element of it but it makes it, basically, a way in which me communicate with nature.

I think Terry Pratchett did an exceptional job when it comes to the treatment of magic in Discworld.

Clive Barker's Imajica. I honestly don't really remember the system well since I read it so long ago, but it involved breath, and breath shaped into words, and I just remember it being described really fascinatingly and poetically.
