Yes, that’s exactly right.  Cops can and do make life or death decisions anywhere and everywhere every day.  Being on a “field” doesn’t mean it’s some kind of Thunderdome situation.

How is a guy in a car, deliberately hitting a guy standing there, during caution, even anything like what you’re describing? It would be more like if two NHL players were ejected from the game and one of them got in his car and tried to run the other one down.

A few years ago a drunk guy hit my car in a road rage incident (he thought I was in the wrong lane when we merged, turns out he was in the right turn only lane) while I was on the phone with the cops. He got 9 months for assault with a deadly weapon. This guy should have the book thrown at him.

If you’re only being a “nice guy” to get laid you’re doing it wrong. You should be nice to women for the same reasons you’re nice to men (assuming you’re a straight man). That works for me. It took me years to figure that out though. I wish I knew that when I was 12.

I spoke with a guy once who was involved in getting the cop cars for the US version of the show Life On Mars. They decided on a years that required unique police cars.
