It's not that I have a problem with movies wanting to bring in a profit...it's one thing to write a movie from the get go like that (Michael Bay) it's something else to censor a movie after it's made.
Yes, sorry...forgot about 2010. I don't really put those movies together but I did like the second one.
As a fellow Atheist, I'm one because there's no proof that any of the worlds religions are correct when it comes to the supernatural. However, if a Mormon baptizes me after my death and I "wake up"...that would kind of be proof right there.
I'm sorry if I'm old enough to remember when movies were considered art forms. It's a disturbing tread when the industry became less about art and more about business. Yes, it's scary, in a subtle, insidious way. Having to censor any kind of art form because *after you've made it* some bean counter says you have to…
OKay TOTALLY COOL UNCLE...let's say I believe you for a moment. I was alive in 1984 and actually saw the original Red Dawn in theaters but I don't remember anyone, not one single person, anyplace, who cared that the Soviet Union was portrayed as the bad guys. But, you seem like an intelligent fellow, so prove it to…
*sigh* What else would I expect from a self-proclaimed "Totally Cool" guy with a caps lock fetish. You do realize, I was comparing two fictional movies? Right? I mean, you get that part? Were you even alive before 1989? Regardless, you sir are a true child. Go eat your turkey, and be thankful that you don't live…
Everyone; it's really China who invaded us. That part was CGI'd out when the producers thought that people wouldn't watch it in China if they were the bad guys. Think on that for a moment; China is a powerful enough economic power to avoid being the powerful economic power in a movie. Nob0ody gave a crap what the…
College Humor is occasionally funny. SNL hasn't been funny since maybe the mid 1980's?
Poseur. that's what it domes down to. Nobody likes a Poseur. Too many women these days wear oversized geek glasses (S.E. Cupp) as a fashion statement. It's no different than women who wear (Chinese made) Doc Martens with a Guns & Roses T-shirt to be "punk". It's really that simple. I have several friends who are…
Do you know when I stopped thinking of the Sci-Fi as a science fiction channel? When they canned the news magazine show "Sci Fi Buzz". Having a show like that with interviews and current news really helped anchor the network to reality (and Harlan Ellison yeah!). That's what THIS blog does. Youse guys talk to me…
I've been prepared for a long time...probably in one way or another since I was a kid in the 1970's. I camp all the time, so I have all that gear. I have a small generator, and a whole house automatic generator. I usually keep enough food for a month or so...not on purpose, it just happens. I have a coal / wood…
Oh...that part from Signs bugs me. As a native Portuguese speaker what ruined it for me is that everyone is speaking Brazilian, and the kid is saying "it's behind the garage" in Brazilian...and then breaks out in English; "IT'S BEHIND!" Ugh!
That part from Exorcist III helped me set up one of the best pranks ever. I was over a girlfriends house with some other people late one night and we had just finished watching the movie. My girlfriend has some sheets drying in the basement. I went down there a couple of minutes before she did and took out one of…
I wonder if they even considered that all calicos and torties are female? Gender has a lot more to do with personality than color.
Stuff doesn't go that bad that fast, really. Sometimes it takes years, despite what it says on the expiration date.
I have HPPD from a head injury...mostly visual snow. However, I clearly remember as a child trying to explain to people what I saw when I looked at a blank wall. Having experiences with a lot of things and having investigated much of it myself I believe that most of the after effects are caused by PTSD and that you…
"Why should AMC go out of their way to make less than 5% of their viewers happy?" Don't forget demographics. That's one of the reasons Star Trek does so well...those fans tend to be higher educated and higher paid. This *is* commercial TV after all. My own personal experience has been that my geeky friends who…
