lol Jalop covers this saga endlessly for months, then writes almost a blurb about it at the climax that focuses on one off color remark without paying attention to any of the rest.

I assume it’s all “short staffing”... Nobody’s got time to listen to the real stream event, so they just summarize another site’s synopsis of a blogger’s Cliff’s Notes of a text message from a girlfriend that watched part of it on a window open at her work PC.
I take it you’ve never been stuck with a Versa as your rental car.
1st gear: I hope when the eventual film of this is made, they get Rowan Atkinson to play Ghosn.
I imagine that Jalopnik staffers are currently rolling around on the floor as they do not yet have a grave to turnover in.
my tesla model 3 has done this to me several times approaching an overpass while going uphill (so that the nose of the car is pointed at the overpass) and when there are big shadows across the road. not a complete stop, but it definitely threw the brakes on until i overrode it. hasn’t happened in the last few software…
The motors are inboard with a shaft.
Short term gain for long term disaster. It’s easy to enjoy a massive spike in profits if you start cutting corners so that your P/L statement looks great. But if the corners you’re cutting get you a reputation for making dangerous crap that kills people, well, that’s not a sustainably profitable scenario.
OK, former trucker and mechanical engineer here. I just wanted to address this kluge-job, and answer a few of your questions:
I’m sure she considered all her options as a truck exploded thru a wall straight towards her while she was drinking her coffee.
I’d be willing to chip in for a fund to keep Peugeot out of the states. We just don’t have the breakdown lane infrastructure.
1st Gear:
While it’s true they need to make engineering changes, the more important changes are at the management level, who rubber-stamped this in the first place. The culture at Boeing needs to change.
Range is EVERYTHING with an electric car.
When Tesla screws up: Jalopnik goes out of its way to remind people how bad of a misstep it is. Repeatedly.
So how big was the check from Porsche?
So what’s the range for the other EVs on the market which undergo the same testing? The way this is written either Tesla’s actually have 500 miles of range and the test brought the numbers down or you are implying Tesla’s are not being held to the same standards.
“so what the fuck’s your story?”
For an economy hatchback, they handle surprisingly well. They are not in any way fast but that is not unlike the corolla, forte, civic, etc
FCA should just partner with Mahindra. Let Mahindra make the Roxor, but brand it as a Jeep for true off road. Win-win. Mahindra keeps making the product. Jeep gets some additional brand recognition and a market they otherwise might not be in without the capital investment.
