I think an undersold aspect of this is the death of the middle class. The ultra-wealthy are still buying Gucci, the rest of us have been demoted to fast fashion and athleisure.

I once accidentally cut a guy off and he pulled up alongside me screaming and carrying on. I laughed at him, which was apparently the wrong thing to do because at the next red light he got out and began smashing my windows and windshield with a baseball bat. Shocked by this I hit the gas a bit too hard and started

I own a lot of J.Crew (and even more Madewell), but I’ve been steadily spending less money at both stores, due to both a notable decrease in quality + some INSANE issues with sizing. (If I buy a shirt labelled “boyfriend” style, it damn well better be longer than 22 inches, unless the boyfriend in question wears a

Willie Nelson’s Peach Cobbler being retired was the moment I knew I would never love or trust again.

The massive migration to e-commerce is affecting pretty much every legacy brick and mortar retailer. If there was debt on the books from a buyout it just speeds the day of reckoning. Get someone back on board at J Crew designing clothes for college students and recent grads and they’ll be fine. They just need to fix

My sister used to conduct psych evals on applications to the police force as a side job while completing her clinical training. A shocking (well, not that shocking if you’ve interacted with 85% of police officers) percentage of applicants were really looking forward to finding out how it felt to shoot a gun at a “bad

I keep saying it: White gun-nut’s greatest fantasy is to get to be in a situation where they can use their gun on another human. It’s like buying a sports car and wanting to see how fast it can go.

I’m old, so I started working in the 90s, and J Crew sold the kind of clothes I needed at my corporate job. Nothing flashy or particularly interesting, but made well enough to last a few years.

His Facebook page is public and a treasure trove! Not only is he a Trump supporter (obviously), but this comment has aged well:

Corn starch isn’t a buffering agent in baking powder, it is used as an anti-caking agent/moisture absorber.

I used to buy a lot of my staples there but it seems the quality took a nosedive in the last 5 years or so. Now I am forever in search of the perfect wool cardigan because nothing I find is as good of quality for a decent price as the ones J.Crew used to sell. I miss those cardigans..

nice facebook photo!

Um, sorry but I’m going to be that guy, J. Crew filing for bankruptcy doesn’t mean they’re going out of business, nor that they’re a casualty. They were about to put Madewell up for an IPO when the pandemic struck, so they have some very profitable segments. They’ve also gone bankrupt before.

Have you considered how much longer those cars have been on the market and how many more cars they sell? Of course you’re going to see more very high mileage examples.

I really disliked Jenna Lyons. I found her so contrived, mannered, and trying to be something she could not be at J. Crew: A European luxury designer.

I’ve only ever shopped at J. Crew once, I bought a few silk shirts for work. They were very expensive ($200+), but I thought that would translate to quality and I liked that they were created with a ‘sustainable’ supply chain (or, at least, that’s how they were advertised.)

You just described 99% of the buyers in this particular market.

Willie Nelson’s Peach Cobbler is the best Ben & Jerry’s flavor. All other answers are invalid.

Should the readership just interpret your use of “fake” as meaning “lacking brand prestige”? If so, then you probably need to realize that a lot of people don’t want to pay a badge tax just so people like you approve.

The average CUV customer is looking for a large station wagon with an elevated seating position.
