He’s not acting. He’s performing, with no subtlety. Granted, in a role that is basically written as a caricature of himself and requires no range. I blame Scorsese more than anything for that but it doesn’t rise to anywhere near the level of award-winning acting IMO (which is, apparently, wrong).
