I gotta hand it to the writers, with Issac they keep hitting the same AI sweet spot where you can see why the machine does something we would consider emotional from a logical perspective, BUT sells it in such a way that there’s doubt whether it’s entirely cold logic.

I always remember Molly Hagan from Herman’s Head.

One thing I wanted to add. In addition to Robert Picardo (and of course Penny Johnson), another Star Trek vet makes an appearance. Elara’s mother was played by Molly Hagan who played the female Vorta Eris in Deep Space 9

I think it’s entirely possible that nobody involved with this program was aware that Swift’s essay was satirical.

It’s probably also a reference to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In season six musical episode “Once More With Feeling”, Buffy says “Dawn’s in trouble. Must be Tuesday,”

He was one jump away from retirement, dammit!

I noticed that “Tiptoe Through The Tulips” by Tiny Tim isn’t on that list,

“I learned your sign language a long time ago, you idiot.”

It is pretty amazing that all the human companions (except for Louise) just disappeared in the last few episodes. Guess it punctuates just how unimportant those subplots were. I suppose the showrunners figured some of the human characters would play a role in Season 2 (!) now that the Inhumans are on Earth.

And they had EIGHT EPISODES to develop these characters.

Black Bolt, when asked about the chances for a second season: “.....”

Stargate, Farscape and Killjoys show it is possible to being both funny and dramatic. I think the problem with The Orville is Seth. And as long as this is treated as his own personal vanity project, it going to have problems, because he seems to think that he can push his most offensive impulses into the mix and

Oh come on, any species travelling on the closed environment of a spaceship would need to be vetted for funny chemicals/desire to store their larvae in your chest cavity/laser eyes etc. whether they were members of the club or not.

I thought the makeup of Darulio (Rob Lowe) was excellent. I did not realize who it was until about halfway through the episode. But, it left enough of his face usable to bring his expressions out. So many times, the prosthetics in sci-fi shows get in the way, so the actors appear to have little-to-no emotions.

ah shit, is that not what those big metallic donation bins are for?

I went to a Christian school as a kid (which is why I’m a virulent atheist.) One of the things we were taught in our morning preaching lessons was that Jesus was coming back any minute and “Blessed is he who is found doing.” Meaning you’d get extra Jesus points in heaven if you were in church or doing good deeds the

So, I’m trying to look at some positives here and know that those people are with the Lord now and experiencing eternity and no more suffering, no more sadness anymore.

By that logic, if you kill someone in a church, you’re basically doing then a favor.

They’re campy and over the top and ridiculous. Even The Dark Knight returns is that way. I don’t mean that they’re stupid or not worthwhile, I mean that they are a ludicrous (as in the “laughable” and “nonsensical” part of that word’s definition) concept. Given that I’ve worked as one of the A.V. Club’s comic book

I didn’t even realize it was Paul Gross for a full episode, I’m embarrassed to say. I just thought, “Who is this handsome older guy channeling Sean Connery...”
