I love EVs and I do think we should work on building up the charging infrastructure to enable a full transition to them, but I do think PHEVs are the way to go for pretty much everyone in the immediate future.

A significant cause of pedestrian deaths is a driver yielding their right of way to a j-walker, and the driver behind them wondering why this bozo randomly stopped (because there’s no marked crosswalk) and swerving around them at full speed.
