That’s the problem. Real, good journalism takes a lot of work. Someone has to pay the people willing to do that because it takes enough time to be a fulltime job.

I wish there were a single word in all of this that I could disagree with.

The steel industry has lost 48,000 jobs since the year 2000.

Bullshit. It’s not a market correction but cannibalism by places like facebook, that ought to be experiencing a ‘market correction’ by losing users but are instead gaining in ad sales. Facebook is making billions off of actual journalists by aggregating stories.

Not enough stars for this. Thiel and Sinclair are two apt examples of fucked-up ideology begetting fucked-up systemic abuses begetting the ever-growing ouroboros of information manipulation and abuse. It’s sickening and heartbreaking. More light to drive away more shadows.

Newspapers don’t rely on people to actually buy the papers. The real money was in the ads and the classifieds. The Internet killed that. But people still read the papers.

So you are incapable of answering the question? Cool. That’s fine, because your metaphor is garbage. Information isn’t a means of travel, it’s a societal glue. Changing the formula leads to different levels of cohesion, as we’re presently witnessing (I can through weak metaphors around, too).

So... what’s the innovative way that we get information in a world where journalism is obsolete? That’s the metaphor that you’re making: that this is a sign of technological progress. So, what’s that look like, professor?

The market is never correct.

It’s a market correction of something that’s main value is not correctly judged by anything resembling “market value”.

The New York Daily News was not killed by a fucking market correction. Sinclair Media is not a fucking market correction. Peter fucking Thiel is not a fucking market correction. Fuck off with this “well, that’s just how it is” bullshit. This is a goddamn siege, and takes like this are how we’re losing it.

For journalists covering national news... Sure, I guess.

I think the loss of journalism jobs was inevitable. I hate the term “market correction”, because it’s douchey and what-not, but I think journalism employment was a bubble, just like so many other fields. It sucks for the people who built their careers doing NEWSROOM JOURNALISM, but some of those folks refused to

You realize both The Root and Jezebel fall under the same banner of GMG, writing about and advocating for specifically racial issues and injustices for the former, and feminism and LBGTQ representation and concerns for the latter?

Because Cespedes was out of his mind for about 6 weeks. He carried them there. Then Murphy went bananas in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.

I remember watching that WS and wondering how the hell the Mets got to the World Series in the first place. Couldnt hit worth shit, pitching was good, but constantly cracked under pressure, and were poorly managed. Still loved watching Harvey break down at the end of game 5 as the Royals put them away

69...

If the Cavs had a better coach like Spoelstra, you could make the argument that they could be a 3/4 seed in the East next year by playing hard, competing, and maximizing their limited talent.

The Mets only trade for shitty prospects; sorry

Sorry. MLB contracts are fully guaranteed.
