Yes reductive descriptions make for worthwhile criticism.

Fair enough if you didn't see it but the whole thing about them wanting to look hot implied it imo.
The criticism is that it's not for them they just think it is - it's a faily well known criticism of "selfie feminism". Not sure I agree with it completely but it seemed pretty clear that what the show was going for.
Jack is always right because he's a mega capitalist in a mega capilist industry in a mega capitalist world. That doesn't mean the message is that Jack or the industry is good and OK and healthy.
It's superb.
Holy hell that was bleak. Good but still, wow, that ending.
You were never really here? No, I just know how to disappear completely.
Absolutely. Shaming someone for being fat is vile and shouldn't be OK. Being concerned about someone's weight and talking to them about it politely as a friend or family member is what good friends and family do. I say this as a former fat person.
Yes how awful to make a political point about a politically motivated bombing.
No snark here but do you know how much control they had over the film editorially?
Yeah it's brilliant shot. Especially coming straight after the happy look on Alison Williams face when Chris is strangling her.
Bingo. The flashing lights at the end basically give the audience this alternate ending in their heads for a few seconds and it's more than enough to get the main points across. The subversion of the cops showing up to save the day as would be the case if it was a white protagonist is a great idea but you don't need…
I'll take post DS9.
Grow some sexual organs and set a new show post Voyager, then we'll talk.
It's hilarious yes but it's also pretty much perfectly on point for Aziz's cultural context and thematically appropriate while evoking that sense of childhood rebellion that's incredibly intoxicating and makes the bacon (or whatever taboo practice you choose) taste that much better.
All those chubby jokes had a good effect.
Saw it last year, really is quite superb in how measured and quiet but also brutal it is. Even the obligatory title card apocalypse explanation is minimalist and devastating.
I hate Hugo Rifkind so much it's crazy.
The Black Panthers would, by and large, be very anti charter schools.
Oh he can shill of course that's fine. It just means every single thing he says should be treated with suspicion and any pronouncements from him about doing whats right should be mocked wholeheartedly.
