Are you Canadian? If your work fires people without cause and you do not have an agreement to the contrary, then employees are entitled to severence pay and EI. Otherwise you have to have proof of cause. If they don’t than the Labour Board will take action if one of these employees files a complaint.

It certainly is. But most of the artists I know who support themselves successfully are self taught. I have my own little studio and it’s paying the bills and I am enjoying my work. I guess it depends on what the artist’s goal is. I create art because it keeps me sane, anything beyond that is a nice bonus.
