I think the Okafor pick was dumb, but looking back at the 2015 draft makes me understand it somewhat better. It was a weak draft, and what talent was there was all in bigs. If you take Porzingis off the table, the only other decent pick (even with hindsight) would be maybe Winslow at #10 or Booker at #13.

I’ve seen some decent reporting on it, but nothing really jumps out. There are plenty of “I visited [declining rust belt town] to understand Trump’s appeal” pieces before and after the election, and Fivethirtyeight has some detailed breakdowns of voter support. There’s strong evidence of a racial resentment factor

Will they know they fucked up, though? Remember this whole backlash is from people who don’t acknowledge things they don’t like and lash out to blame anyone that’s an easy cultural target. Just compare the media: the supposed elite snooty east coast media ran countless pieces, even before the actual election, trying

To be fair, sexual harassment is core to Trump’s family business.

Half of that has to be from the stadium deal. Even with the county owning it, the Marlins’ lease terms are extremely favorable and they get almost all the revenue generated, with the county hanging on to most of the costs. Someone needs to leak financial statements again.

This is what I use. If your tax situation is fairly simple, it’s the perfect way to proceed.

It kills me how lobbying has ensured that many state filings require the use of a paid preparer to efile. Was reminded of that this year in regards to New York. It’s absolutely insane that they would push filers to having to physically mail in returns.

What’s crazy is that I read that and was like “wow, the GOP now would NEVER admit to contrary facts and evidence.”

Right, we only win when we turn out to vote. The GOP has two big advantages: their voters are (1) more likely to vote and (2) live in the “right” places. Consolidating a demographic advantage in CA and NY helps nothing unless it also tips the scales in swing states. The fact that liberals are heavily concentrated

The big revelation for me is that the part of the population that really believes in voting out of hate and spite is much larger than we thought. We thought it was a small minority; turns out that they were a sleeping giant waiting to be inspired.

So you’re saying that financial advice is only a viable profession if they’re allowed to scam their customers? All the rule does is require that the adviser acts in their client’s best interest.

Can’t even file the complaint. Most of what constrains a president are the norms of behavior that’ve built up over time. No legal basis to file for a breach of norms.

It’s the same plan with the ACA. The law has problems, but instead of fixing those problems you hype them up and use that as an excuse to get rid of everything.

He never will, he’s made that clear. He’ll never even make the disclosures so that we know when he’s benefiting.

I loved the Seven Seconds or Less Suns teams and hated to see them continually run into the Spurs. Couldn’t hate the Spurs themselves, though. Too good, too much fun to watch. Very frustrating to not achieve proper levels of sports hate.

That is a great way of putting it.

Think it’s on both of us, I was being a little dense.

I guess I’m doing a bad job understanding your point. I’m trying to say that we can “do both” in this context because our best responses to both China and Russia are to build up our existing alliances that act as counterweights in the region.

Except we’ve never worked with one against the other. We’ve taken advantage of rifts between the two, just like either of them look to take advantage of our diplomatic issues.
