How many Americans are excited about $60 t-shirts and the loss of every one of our exporting industries? I thought it was the socialists that hated capitalism?

Yes, but I’m actually from Boise and not talking out my ass here. I know the neighborhoods.

Definitely. But one other thing we’ve learned from the GOP is that you don’t bring a carefully crafted 54 point plan to a gun fight. You do whatever it takes to win

The only option, as far as I can see, is to put together a wave like the GOP did in 2010 to try and capture state legislatures. That way when they redraw the boundaries we can undo the gerrymandered map.

To be more specific: you could easily foresee a Republican coming in and just not cancelling every environmental program we have (or tweaking shrinking some of it), cancelling only certain executive orders and not literally all of them, not threaten to withhold federal funding from big cities, signal a push for

It’s literally the job of journalists to check facts and report on statements by politicians.

Wait, what? Undoing everything the previous liberal president did is palatable to liberals? You can pick out one or two things that sounds good (lobbying ban, sure), but this is a wholesale repudiation of liberalism. It’s what he was elected to do, so it’s not a surprise, but there’s no compromising in there.

A fact check isn’t just saying “they said x, but it’s actually y,” although based on how much Trump lied in his speeches/debates it would be easy to get that impression. Fact checks are also good for saying “they say that they want to do x; the road block is y and the major consideration is z.” NPR isn’t saying that

I’ve had a few perfect batches on the stove. Trick is to not get greedy and overfill. It’s a hell of a feeling.

It’s ok, you don’t have to be sorry. And I hope you’re right, but I think I’m going to stick to my guns and oppose him when he does things that I think are terrible like deregulate banks, eliminate the EPA and Clean Power Plan, repeals the ACA, and persecutes minorities. I would feel bad if I supported any of that.

Just jumping on this for rent: Padmapper has a bunch of places for under $600. There are some pretty nice 2 bedroom apartments for $1000.

I still don’t understand what you mean by “throw him a line” or “don’t paint him into a corner.” Do you really think that Trump cares at all what liberals think? His entire campaign is based on a middle finger to what liberals think.

They were tired of being called racists, so they voted for the KKK-endorsed candidate. Checks out.

What does “throw him a line” even mean? Seriously. Should we clap when he institutes his Muslim ban and cheer when he signs the repeal of Dodd-Frank?

So the problem is that we weren’t PC enough for white voters? Thanks for the great advice.

Just following up because I thought my tone might of come across as testy. My big worry is that Trump has been clear about what he wants, and the GOP in general has been clear as well. I hope it’s not that bad, but I just don’t see any upside. We should be realistic about the stakes and be prepared for the results.

Do you have any basis for that? He controls every branch of government. He doesn’t even need Congress to implement his Muslim ban, increase deportations, remove regulations on banks, eliminate clean air rules, etc. And this isn’t difficult for him. He can delegate the job and his staffers/cabinet will do it.

lol

We’ll miss insightful comments like this.

So your hope is that everything Trump has said and done for the past 8 years has been a lie?
