Concussions have plenty of bad effects, but CTE is caused by the cumulative total of sub-concussive impacts. They certainly play a part, but it’s a question of volume.

The conclusion is that it’s damaging to the brain to repeatedly hit your head over the course of your lifetime. The research on that is strong. It’s also the case that the tau proteins like that kind that signal CTE were only previously seen in patients with degenerative neurological conditions like Alzheimer’s.…
Accumulated sub-concussive impacts. It’s being studied in other sports (boxing was the first), and yes there’s a lot more to learn, but the connection to football (where linemen bang heads on every snap; that’s why hockey and rugby actually aren’t that high risk, but they’re looking at soccer more closely) is…
1. CTE isn’t caused by concussions.
What is Deadspin intolerant of?
Could, but you’d still need to really lean in. It could also be that a better brush would help too. What didn’t work for me was a stiff bristle nylon brush.
Here’s the sad thing: those candidates really do thump the bible, and advocate for war with Iran, and explicitly argue that they’re the candidates of older white men. None of those qualities are falsely attibuted to them. They’re sources of pride.
Yeah, it was a disappointment. Really have to lean on it to get the pressure to scrub, which is hard on my weak drill. I could actually see something like a little sander serving the function better, but for now it’s just elbow grease.
This is appreciated. Half the reason I accepted a crappy rent increase and stayed in my apartment was because the day before I got the increase I spent 2 hours scrubbing my shower with a toothbrush.
Exactly. Just cutting spending on the things that don’t matter to you, that automatic spending that people just default into, is one of those big Pareto-principle acts that gets you a big benefit at a tiny loss of utility. For me it was cooking for myself (I get sick of eating out often and have no interest in crappy…
Pat Lynch has already come out throwing his own shit about how we shouldn’t be so quick to judge. If anything I would think the opposite; NYPD brass want to blame one hothead instead of focusing on the operational screwups.
What about that was reasonable or controlled?
It’s just a stupid US tradition dating back to a long time ago. Reading on the coroner example here:
$50k on a wedding, especially when you’re broke, is lavish. And the little brother’s tuition is nice and all, but private school is a luxury. The creditors are sharks and honestly don’t deserve to be repaid, but he hasn’t responded with any frugality.
Except he’s not a multi-millionaire. He’s broke. If he had the money, no one would care, but right now he’s spending the creditors’ money on his luxuries.
It doesn’t mean nothing, but it’s neither enough nor fair.
Who wouldn’t be ok with that?
Where in my comment did I defend him? And no, she shouldn’t have run him over. That would be murder. You don’t get to kill people just because they slow you down. I hope you’re not this aggro when you’re on the road.
It absolutely is. Guy is a huge asshole. It’s also an asshole move to hit someone with your car.
That’s kind of terrifying. The only times I’ve ever seen/participated in a bump (that wasn’t an accident) was as an idiot teenager in the company of other idiot teenagers. Not to excuse McDouche’s freakout, but that kind of treatment of motorcycles/bikes seems to prove the need for better awareness among drivers.
