That’s basically the slur’s definition. It’s anyone you perceive to be less classy than you, so you call the people with couch on their lawn hoosiers, but then someone calls you a hoosier for buying clothes at the thrift store.
Hoosier’s came down and worked as scabs during strikes.
It’s an interesting word because it’s basically anyone that you perceive to be less classy than yourself. So my friends would call people hoosiers, but we knew that people called us hoosiers as well.

I guess I’ve walked bare foot pretty often. I’ve always thought people walking on their heels were doing it wrong. I used to have a tiny roommate who’s footsteps sounded like a giant because she ran back and forth on her heels.
