Because it makes them feel smarter and that their extracurricular choices for entertainment are so much more refined. Like, they hate it when you can easily talk about having played defensive back in high school, that one shitty class on Marxian economics you took in grad school, and the Jays’ chances to win the World

Warning: serious nerd shit following, mostly copy-pasted from an old Star Wars forum, on this very thing.

1. Look up TV reviews on CNET
2. Go to Costco to see which of said TV’s look best
3. Use cheaper online price on Newegg to get bargain at store
4. Success!

Eh, that’s a little oversimplified. Evangelicals, like Mormons, do have a lot of children and proselytize, but also suffer from much higher attrition than more ecumenical faiths once all those kids grow up and leave the church. If those trends were true, Orthodox Jews would have been the majority sect in American

If this means Yordano Ventura either gets drilled when he pitches in an NL park and/or gets the shit kicked out of him on national television, I’m all for it.

I’d love to see all the humor posts on this “Deadcurve” you speak about on Ray Rice or Greg Hardy.

It could be a licensing issue, but seems odd given how ubiquitous the image of the statue is worldwide. If that’s a troll move, that’s pretty epic. My wife is Brazilian, and that loss to Germany was literally regarded like a death in the family among all of my in-laws. Given how popular Street Fighter is in South

and protect them from a civil lawsuit, more importantly

again, a lot of words used here, and most saying nothing. Lucas made a shitload of money off of fans. Thus, fans who’ve paid money and given him the fame and fortune he now enjoys have every right to tell him his product sucks. He can make his movies however he wants; that was never the point. He is not immune from

Color me shocked that Sorkin wrote yet another piece about how awesome the world is when upper-class white men run everything and can have their say.

I dunno, they can be amusing, but Sorkin’s dialogue is also really damn smug and kinda predictable after awhile. It’s not an issue with realism, just that there’s no variety. Maybe it’s me, but I’m not all that entertained by educated white guys who’re able to make a witty repartee. I grew up reading Buckley, Mailer,

That was a lot of text to say “he can do what he wants, he’s an artist, get over it.”

Hey, thanks! I think it’s especially awkward for Star Wars fans because they’ve never been through nor expected a reboot like this - unlike DC/Marvel, Dr. Who, Star Trek, or other franchises that have been around for decades - so it’s weird to have to re-learn everything in the first place. For so many years Star Wars

I actually think they’re both, depending on the hands they’re in. It’s a society’s obligation to keep said historical stuff as a reminder of the evils humans are capable of. Keep them as historical mementos and make it a good history lesson for your own progeny one day. Yet, they can still be living symbols of hate if

Christ, do you not realize how ridiculous you sound? You want people to take into account context and nuance and rant that “PC culture” disallows that. OK, I follow. But then you want symbols like Nazi memorabilia or the Confederate flag, or words like “fag” to be viewed entirely without context. The reason why people

You have no fucking clue how freedom of speech works.

Yup, and I think some of that has to do with facial nuance. Yoda looked better in CGI because he could actually have facial expressiveness, whereas his puppet version was pretty flat (like all of the creatures from the original trilogy). I do think he looked overly cartoonish when he fought, but that may be

They’d be the Sixers if they traded anyone who gained value for a couple of low-A reliever prospects, and spent their high picks on a pitcher after he’s had documented arm problems.

Good point, but I also think it’s what they used CGI for as well. For example, using a lot of CGI for the creatures and droids instead of old-school costumes and makeup just made it look cartoonish. That might have been a product of visual expectations from the first trilogy, but it had that effect nonetheless.

I see where you’re coming from, but it’s a bit more nuanced than that. The prequels were an insult to everybody because of shitty writing, worse acting, stupid characters, an overemphasis on CGI, etc. They were also an insult to diehards because Lucas ruined the mystique of the Force with midichlorian bullshit, made
