It’s getting there David!

Two things,

Those fuel pumps HATE ethanol. If you don’t have ethanol-free fuel in your area, I think the newer pumps being made are safe to use with ethanol. (aka don’t use a NOS pump)

Second, IIRC, manual says to retorque the head nuts after 500 miles.

Good job!

David, I know you’re not going to get it machined but pay close attention behind the distributor tube, the L-134 is famous for cracking there and could lead to some problems down the road. Great work, it’s getting there!

Yeah I used to work in a 6x12 car shelter. Thankfully I have a shop now with heating. No more working at -30!

Well I think we’re pretty much at the same stage!

Mine was worse :)

Yeah there’s nothing worst than growing tired of it and selling it for peanuts since nothing is put back together.

Rebuild parts are very expensive as well, my last order was 300$ for 4 steering knuckles bearings/cups, some seals, a new pinion yoke and some bolts.

I need a lot more bits :(

Yeah those lock rings on the differential carrier are notorious for breaking. Your ring gear looks in good shape (considering 3 bolts were possibly wrecking havoc in there).

I’ve been working on my 2 diffs for months now, it’s a pain on 70yrs old gears especially if you swap ‘em around like I did.

The steering box was

Lucky you, my MK5 isn’t too happy aha. Broke one BBS wheel this November.

If you’re in Montreal, how does it handle potholes? On VWQuebec, 2 R owners broke a few wheels/tires already

Looking good! Were those hooks on the frame horns there when you got it? It could be a Marines-contract or Canadian jeep.

Yeah I’m especially good at loosing hardware or ordering some repro parts in double.

Now I just gotta finish that front axle. Gosh I hate rebuilding that diff.

Ah sweet! Yeah mine is a simple HF 20gal parts washer, filled with varsol and a bit of ATF to try to save the pump. I use it mostly for soaking stuff prior to sandblasting though. Can be seen in this photo. I also got a compressor since lol

I’m only at my first jeep rebuild though!

Yeah same here, although the pump craps out quickly if you’re using solvent in a china-made parts washer. Solvent-safe pumps are cheap though

Here’s mine that was cut up to fit in a T-90. The rest of the holes are rust/weight reduction

Hey David, Etienne here we talked by email a few times.

A few things :

Replace those locktabs on your diff carriers, they are very prone to breakage and WILL wreck the differential gears/pinion. Ask me how I know.
Those are stretch-bolts so you’ll have to order new ones and loctite them into place. No locktabs! :P

Brand

It’s also adjustable if you want more of a GT-style seating position or more of an openwheeler setup.

Ah pretty nice. I fold mine and hide it next to the couch. It folds like this :

A cockpit is great too. I’ve got the cheapest playseat which is still the best IMO since it folds almost flat and is easier to store than the others more expensive ones. I run a Logitech G27 w/ an upgraded brake spring and it’s a fun toy. I don’t have a VR headset though, I just sit a foot from the 50' tv. It works

me three. Same door opener and keypad. Wouldn’t it make it easy to access if you have a wifi access? Someone could easily connect to your wifi and open up your garage from the outside.

My friend has a M50-swapped 318is, and he’s close to booking the deal on a low mileage S-54. It’s gonna be a fun car
