Beyond also had the benefit of coming after Into Darkness which was Not. Good. So expectations might have been lower.

Beyond was decent because JJ had no involvement and Simon Pegg who wrote the script actually likes Star Trek
this isn’t new. he’s been saying this since 2007.
“(1) nobody has ever been particularly fond of his take on the material”
I liked some of Picard as well, but it consistently managed to take whatever goodwill it generated and flush it out an airlock.
THANK YOU!
Ugh, that episode of SNW was awful. Except for Chong who could actually sing without ridiculous levels of autotune.
Why am I afraid that we’re going to get a movie length Star Trek musical?
IO9 was reporting that it was a prequel set in the Kelvin (JJ lensflare) universe which...makes no sense really both plotwise and ..just generally as a movie that people would want to see.
I liked some of Picard , and the Kelvin movies are ..ok I guess
Picard S3, for all the love it gets, is really just the same shit as the first two seasons, only this time with characters we recognize. It’s the same morally bankrupt deconstruction where violence is confused with being a badass and plot twists that really don’t make any damn sense. If you take away the nostalgia, is…
Hard agree here. What SNW and LD are doing are fantastic examples of what Trek is supposed to be. The last 4 movies (and Picard) have been nothing but hamfisted fan service with no solid connection of what Star Trek actually is. Give me more of that and stop trying to make JJ Trek a thing.
This should be the mandate for all new writers to existing franchises. If a writer can’t work within those constraints, then write something new.
Well, it’s not like we as a society are constantly accusing women of bad attitudes based on a brief sample of their overall demeanor. And I can’t even bring to mind any recent examples of people on the Internet seeing a woman react to a bad joke on an awards show and then en masse blaming her for something someone…
Yeah, it’s mixed between “great Trek” and “greatest Trek”
Potentially unpopular opinion: There should not be Star Trek movies. As much fondness as I have for a few of the ST films (2, 4, 6...), the essence of Trek is about things that cinema isn’t really the right medium for.
Jo Koy? More like Joke? Oy!
He really is a wild and crazy guy.
