Sorry for the double post, but I went into watching 3 Body Problem without any knowledge of the story. The “civilization from a three star system, whose planet’s orbit traverses among them” is only fully introduced in episode 3 of 8, so I didn’t know it was the actual premise until then.

I had heard it was good hard sci-fi, so the expectation was reasonable.

My takeaway is it wasn’t good hard sci-fi.

I’m guessing a lot was lost in translation from Mandarin (I assume), but I haven’t even read the English books.

Such a shame this Netflix series is getting acclaim as good hard sci-fi. It’s not.

Most likely a sound engineer used AI as a new tool to clean up the vocals.

Now I just want to see Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter on a horse.
