I like OMITB, but this seemed like a bit of an off episode for me. I presume that the writer considers this episode “filler” because nothing really advances the central mystery. Which is fine, this was some good character building so I don’t mind.

This was definitely a very frustrating episode, highlighted by a conversation between a person talking A LOT and a deaf person who admitted they are a 33% lip reader - while HE’S DRIVING. (Honestly, why were they even required by the story to be driving at all? Take the Q or an uber.)

It’s unbelievable that in this day and age simply agreeing on factual reality of a single day makes someone an ally.
