I would humbly suggest that this is part of the endemic HBO pattern of launching a great series with a huge investment, then turning off the money spigot when the showrunners want to actually build off that success. See: Rome, Deadwood, The Leftovers (arguably).

This tracks with the current state of related tech. I don’t see any value in an 8k video for at _least_ two years. It requires an HDMI spec that isn’t widely available (and not even on AppleTV, which is where you’d conceivably cast your videos.) BTW, how much of your home Wi-Fi are you gonna eat up sending 8k Dolby…

I’m a resident in that camp. The game looked interesting and fun, but I’m very glad I didn’t pre-order it for my XBone. If they get it into a working state, I’ll probably buy it.
