I’ve spent a lot of time learning about personal finance and I’m naturally very frugal. That said, I’m less inclined than I used to be about financial-shaming people. The deck is usually stacked, there’s a power imbalance, and a car purchase is usually not a discretionary luxury purchase for most people. This comment

What if you take the wrong driver on the trail? This whole thing is so stupid. I get it, they want to keep bozos off the trail. But they cannot come up with a working definition of “bozo”. So, yeah, the only way to do it is to have big rescue fees, no matter how well equipped your vehicle. Because, if they needed

This. There's too much variation in technology. It's up to the driver to know the limitations of their vehicle and they are ultimately responsible if they get themselves into a situation that requires costly assistance. It should just be "drive at your own risk - stuck vehicles will be assessed the costs of retrieval."

The question thrived on the largely correct assumption that the average person did not intuitively recognize that the wheels are simply free-rolling and not powered. If you really wanna break some brains, swap the conveyor for a giant fan.

Good to know it’s not just me.

Seriously, its annoying as fuck to get randomly thrown to a different website as you get to the bottom of an article

Seriously? It took me like 10 tries just to leave a comment because scrolling redirects me to another page, including the scrolling the site does on it’s own when I hit the reply button!

HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING???

See, we knew we were vulnerable to cyberattack from hostile foreign countries.

they just charged Minnesotan Xcel customers the costs of getting it back online and supplying overpriced fuel to them.”

I’m still pissed about this, my bill, in the winter went from ~$350 to almost $600/month

Colorado also got to help pay for this fiasco. Probably anywhere that is serviced by Xcel got to contribute.

We just are so much better than this.

I can’t even tell whether this is satire.

You write really well - clear and simple but engaging. You should write a book about a dystopian future and AI etc

My father always believed that no system was good for more than 50 years. And this is a problem. One side is offering a Pre-industrialized solution to our problems, which is obviously not going to work. The other is offering a 100 year old solution to our problems, which has become corrupt and out-dated.

To me, it is clear that the future will have two major classes.

Most challenging is that the blue wave has to come to the Senate, which was intentionally designed to give small, rural, conservative populations outsized power. The current hyper-narrow 51-49 seat split is more like a 58%-42% population split. Been a while since I saw the numbers, but I think the Dems getting 60+

The problem isn’t price inflation, it’s wage inflation. But,this isn’t reported correctly.

There are a lot of angry and paranoid people out there, and Fox News has been telling them the big bad gummint is coming for them at every opportunity. Yes. Them. Personally. The Dems are coming for you, Tim and Pam. Honestly, it is amazing the numbers are actually this low.

THIS. All the stars. They don’t NEED no stinking drones with cameras - we WILLINGLY give them what they want.
