my point exactly- one was far closer to a ‘noosing’ and one was basically a guy grabbing a girl around the next for about 1 second. it wasn’t noosing in the latter in my opinion.

Garner was a noosing in that the cop choked him, continued choking him after his hands had gone up, continued choking him while on the ground and continued choking him to the point of murdering him.

assholes like me (African-American Studies minor- U of MD. Yes. Really) would love to be able to have discussions about important topics without being called ‘asshole’ by people who cannot comprehend that we are not a monolith and can actually think for ourselves. I found the word offensive but again, it’s Gawker. He

“noosing”? really? I get that you obviously have a strong opinion on this and your article is great, but wow. The Eric Garner video- yeah, that word applies with all its racial meaning in that case, not here. Then again, it’s Gawker- hyperbole isn’t something to be used sparingly when clicks are on the line.

yes I do think she bears SOME responsibility for what happened. remember a few months (last year?) when the cop at some UC campus walked up and down a line of peaceful sit-in protesters and pepper sprayed them. again, I see a difference between this girl refusing 3 school officials vs. someone at a sit-in who goes

“but again, let’s not pretend this girl was Rosa Parks sitting on a bus for justice.”

“you are wrong.” the hallmark of an internet d’bag when it’s a matter of opinion, not fact. thanks, goodnight sweet “moderate” liberal republican prince.

exactly- the cop overreacted and should face punishment. the girl who refused her teacher, her assistant principal and the cop’s request to get up also is no angel. deserved to be tossed like a ragdoll? nope. but I bet if someone yanked her by her arm there’d be people here screaming about that.

“but again, let’s not pretend this girl was Rosa Parks sitting on a bus for justice.”

if she ignored the teacher and he had to call the resource officer, ignored him, he called the assistant principal, she ignored him and finally a cop was called....

ah yes, the SJW’s first defense- cry racism. actually no, I think both of them needed to be arrested. you are correct that the mac-n-cheese d’bag shoved his finger at the manager once, but the manager didn’t react and they continued arguing.

and you admit that she was wrong. so yup, 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

so what would you do if the teacher told her to leave. the resource officer told her to leave. the assistant principal told her to leave. the cop told her to leave, grabbed her to try to get her out of the chair and she yanked her hand back. did he overreact? again, yup. I also think the cop overreacted when they

I’m not satisfied that you took your meds today. or maybe caffeine.

she ignored the teacher. he called the assistant principal whom she ignored who then called the cop. yeah, again, we both agree she didn’t deserve to be a contestant in a dwarf tossing contest. she also shares some of the blame for basically being a sh*thead and ignoring her teacher, her assistant principal and a cop

why is a cop in a school? because not all of us went to lovely suburban schools like you did. my alma mater has a metal detector now. know why? take a guess. so yeah, sometimes kids go to real crappy schools.

you said she shares in NONE of the blame. yet the next sentence you said “She was wrong, yes.” I don’t think she deserved to be tossed like a rag doll, but again, let’s not pretend this girl was Rosa Parks sitting on a bus for justice. the teacher called the cop for a reason. the cop asked her to get up, tried to grab

you said “protesters in the 60s were treated more humanely.” not only is that an insult to the 4 dead in Ohio (also the name of a song before your time), it sure as hell is an insult to the civil rights protesters who had dogs and fire hoses set upon them. I realize it was hyperbole, and I could’ve ignored it for

what could the teacher have done to her- he would’ve been sued and everyone would’ve been up in arms. she’s no angel. he overreacted and he’ll hopefully face discipline but let’s not pretend she was sitting there reading a book- he was called to the room because she refused to leave.

indeed it did. I used to tell mom I was auditioning for a play every time I got detention. Wasn’t til late senior year that she realized we only did 2 plays a year.
