This post reminded me why I haven't really bothered to pick up any X book in quite a while - and it makes me sad. I'd noticed that there's actually a Comixology sale right now on a couple of the runs referenced here — I think I might grab House of M, if for no other reason than to have some context for the last few

Yes! So far, so good. Though (at least in the trade I'm reading) I'd be ok if the artist had made slightly more effort to distinguish Casanova's look from Mick Jagger's. Not that Jagger's a bad reference point, actually…

I have no idea what to pick up this week - I'm trade-waiting DKIII but I do need to read something on the plane, so… we'll see. I've been intrigued by what I've seen of Ringside, so perhaps I'll check that out.

Whew, finally had a week to catch up on the weird pile of stuff I'd been collecting + check in on a few new books:

I like plenty of other books by Jason Aaron (Southern Bastards, etc.) but I absolutely hated his Doctor Strange. Just felt the voice was completely wrong. I'm certainly not steeped in the Strange mythology, but I've read enough to have at least a sense of how I'd expect him to act/speak — it's closer to what Warren

I'm not entirely certain it's wise to raise this, but… there's a fairly extensive Grant Morrison sale underway @ Comixology. Anyone up to recommend a particular favorite book of his? (I've been meaning to read his New X-Men run, but of course that's not included in the sale…)

Oh God I'd buy a book of those tweets.

If we're thinking of the same thing, it was a JMS book - Ten Grand, published through Image. (Underrated series, in my view.) The Templesmith drama went down fairly early on, four or five issues in, and then JMS replaced him with CP Smith, who managed to pull off an elegant style for the book that still allowed it to

I had the same reaction - but yes, I'm hoping it'll be worth sticking with for a bit. I don't think I've liked much of the work on Constantine during or post- the New 52.

Oh you're right! #undercaffeinated

Have you checked out the current/new-ish Constantine book? Written by Tynion with Ming Doyle on pencils. It's the first time I've enjoyed pretty much anything Tynion's written.

Touche - I should invest the time to read his run. But what I really mean is that Black Canary (thus far) lacks personality period.

Yes! I've been happily surprised by it so far.

Totally agree. I think DC was right to pursue this general direction, but it feels TOO directly derived from Batgirl (and lacks the sort of personality Fletcher has crafted for Barbara). Running out of patience with it, I'm afraid.

Got it! I'll find a way to check both of 'em out.

No reason, really - other than perhaps trying to make the most of my finite time/money, I suppose. Actually, maybe the real answer is that I should start with Marvels.

Oh boy. I've read some of Kurt Busiek's other work - he wrote a great short story in a weird little prose compilation I stumbled across the other day - but I've never really read Astro City.

NM, figured it out. Didn't realize they'd released those in a separate volume.

I admit that I don't follow many of the DC characters outside of the Bat-verse, but I too am happy to see the positive reception for this book. I happened to see Walker speaking on a DC panel at Comic-Con, and the guy could not be more excited to be writing Cyborg - he really seems to feel the character has a strong

My current list, and a question:
