TLC has proven themselves to be vile and uncaring about the families they show in their family reality dramas. They care as far as how it’ll affect their ratings and the worse things are for the families, the better for their ratings.

Where I live you get a mandatory home visit from a nurse within your first week home with your newborn to check on the health of mom and baby, help with breastfeeding and answer any questions. I really appeciated this when I had my kids. Anything like this in the States?

This is so, so needed. Too many horrible incidents have happened because of undiagnosed pre/post-partum depression (of course, Andrea Yates comes to mind immediately).
And for miscarriages/stillbirths, too. I had two live births with ZERO pregnancy or post-partum issues, but when I had a miscarriage my post-partum depression was debilitating. I had no idea that was a thing - talk about adding insult to injury. Sheesh.
