Yes.  It’s quite likely that he was wedged in so tight he couldn’t breathe and suffocated.  At least that’s what I hope, that he didn’t really suffer.

He was 5'5" and 140 lbs and he got wedged in an 18 inch space. I doubt he was able to scream at all and/or lasted long enough to die of dehydration.  He probably died fairly quickly of suffocation.  Poor guy.
