I think just having an upgradable health bar makes these games far more enjoyable. I think developers really underestimate a multi-hit health bar. It makes all the different between an enjoyable platform and a punishing one.

This is really a puzzle game and not a fighting game. I have it on my NES classic and think the game holds up incredibly well, not many puzzle games like it. It’s not really about striking and blocking but instead of figuring out each levels pattern and exploiting it.
