I love this site (obviously), but I have always been confused as to why or how most feminists on here view choice as an isolated, fantastic process that fully realizes the individual while being completely ahistoric and lacking an external frame of reference.

I just moved to the states to make use of my US citizenship for once, and I'm finding the registration process very frustrating. Can anyone help me out?

@dsands: It used to be the preferred style, before male doctors got involved...

Now playing

@doit2julia: He also made a really mean sandwich (that would sometimes come back to haunt him in puppet form).

@TopLevelExecutive: Yeah, I re-read the comment that I wrote and realized that it did sound off. He, however, was not speaking specifically of white women.

@typicrobots: People constantly think this about my brother and I, made only slightly more creepy by the fact that we honestly look like male and female versions of each other.

@Covertconvert: The only problem with this is that I doubt they would stay in long considering I sleep with a man in my bed.

I need someone to help me tools to curl hair. My hair isn't even that straight but it will not stay curled, or even most of the time, curl in the first place.

I find these costumes weird not because of the exposure of the female form, but because most of those characters are supposed to be children...

Does anyone know how one volunteers for planned parenthood? I only see job applications on the site, but don't need a job.

Ten Things I Hate About You: The paintball scene where Heath Ledger pulls Julia Stiles into the hay and brushes her hair off her face to kiss her.

@LittleWoodenGirl: It often has to do with germs and such being shoved up the urethra while he is thrusting. So actually it means he doesn't shower enough.

@veronykah: Yeah I don't understand the need to test it every time. I don't need to pee in a cup to know I have a UTI. I know because it feels extremely distinct. And yet doctors won't trust what women say.

I thought this is what cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol was for...

@Cytochromeo: Yeah, I can't do pads. I don't know how some women do it. I personally, could never get used to that feeling.

@resplendent.bitch: This story made me smile though, and probably others so I think it worked out.

She had a million babies?! Dear God, does TLC have her number? I smell a series...

@duplo mama: AH! This is why it makes it hard for me to like America. I just can't compute all of the various contradictions in what people say.

@toe-to-toe: I suppose we are genetically modifying vegetables. I challenge science to make me a pouch (I only wear dresses with pockets anyway, so it would extend my wardrobe possibilities).

The United States is in last place for the Americas for what it offers in terms of parental leave. See wikipedia article below, and scroll down to the Americas sections. It is appalling. So glad I have that Canadian citizenship...but feel for women who do not.
