This “issue” is solidly in the noise of my life. Not something I will worry about.

To paraphrase Spock, “If I were Google, I believe my response would be, 'go to hell.' If I were Google."

I killed it after I had an argument with a chiropractor who attacked me personally for my request to him that he be able to defend his profession with facts. He could not. It was in a comment thread for a post by my brother-in-law. There was really no reason for any of it - just mean-spiritedness. It highlighted for

Fireball or Jager? SMH. :)

Oh God, visions of Las Vegas in the late 90's/early 2000's. All those guys trying to give you stripper cards... no, no, no.

I agree that this is a great way to do it. We also have a second rule that if none of the options are okay, anyone who vetoes a choice must have a counter proposal. No counter, no veto.

My mom and I did the California Zephyr in 2017 as a last-hurrah trip to her old stomping grounds. She was dying of cancer, and it was a hard trip. The train made it memorable, and gave her a chance to see some of the country again before she couldn’t do any other way.

Claire, you’re already one of my favorites, but Mr. Morgenthaler is my favorite writer-about-alcohol. The fact that you interviewed him makes me so happy, you can’t know. Thank you.

Relatedly, what does anyone know about the various junk removal services that claim that they do all this for you? I’ve often wondered if the cost of that service would let me get on with things without guilt that it just went to the landfill.

I find it interesting that I see a ton of pushback against the “Konmari” method coming from people who either haven’t tried it, don’t believe they need to declutter in the first place, or have some gripe with her beliefs about things (or all three). Not a knock on you, Nick, at least not specifically, this being a

The Volvo parts were... out of place... but regardless, I found this to be a well-written piece. Thanks, Mack.

I agree with this 100%. If I were a creative professional, I could make the case for some capex, but not as an interested hobbyist. Ain’t happening.

This is what I’m going for next - if I can find a product that’s affordable (pro-am, not pro-only, not crap-am), and works with different levels. I have looked at what’s out there, and it’s not yet ready for me.

I basically agree, but when I had the option to buy a touch-enabled Carbon X1 in the first generation for an extra hundo, I figured “What the hell?” and went for it. It is surprisingly useful, but almost certainly not worth even the paltry $100 I paid. I think it really gets useful on airplanes, when you have a

Thank you. That was what got me in here.

I miss the Morgenthaler Method videos on Small Screen Network. The guy is funny, and knows how to make a drink.

You can find it in Prayers to Broken Stones... a compilation of short stories from earlier in his career. It's a great collection, and is what hooked me on his writing.

Expanding a bit, NASA had three missions in which personnel were lost, to include Apollo 1. The Challenger commission report summed up the pervasive (at the time) lackadaisical attitude to human safety, and it seems that they’ve only learned a partial lesson.
