I visited this place in the Spring, due to the private jet I fly spending 3 days in Islamabad. Most of us are OIF/OEF veterans, so we had our security consultant hire a car and security. We did a day trip up there, and there isn’t much to see. We relieved ourselves on the property (seemed appropriate), looked around…
Honestly, I drive that way too. Assume other drivers might be out to kill me, assume pedestrians and cyclists are suicial and might try to commit suicide by traffic, and expect anybody on a motorcycle to.........well, be like the guy in the video............................
I had the same ride in the front seat 10 years ago. Christmas present from my darling wife. Best thing anyone has ever gotten me. The pilot told me if things went bad he’d say bailout three times and he’d be gone. He said the last one would be more like “bailoooooouuuuut”.
Agreed on all the points about steam as a viable power source: limited range caused by fuel (wood) and steam capacity (spare water). Seeing as how no engine of the time would have the power / traction to push around enough armor to make it withstand a single direct hit from cannon, all you’re doing is creating a big…
As in having wings, a cockpit, and burn kerosene-based fuel in the atmosphere of planet Earth, then yes: they have some things in common.
If you’re a gamer or you work from home, i can see how this would rock. However in the last 4 months i went from normal-wide to 2 monitor and back to normal-wide. I have to say, i strongly prefer the 2 monitor setup. Maybe it’s the way my brain processes looking at data in one window and writing reports or analyzing…
Because if they’re too close then they hit you when you brake faster than they’re expecting? When I get into sudden traffic slowdowns in heavy traffic, my eyes go back and forth between my mirror and the car in front of me to manage my deceleration try to attenuate the rate of deceleration back up the chain.
That statement he made is misleading. It was a success as a test bed. It was too expensive and not capable enough for production so once all the data was in, it was cancelled.
Or people who don’t want to accept the very slight risk of being killed by an out-of-control plane at an airshow should just not attend airshows, and let everyone else continue to enjoy them.
I hate this mentality of banning everything that is even slightly unsafe. It’s why I never got to play dodgeball past 9th grade…
After the P-51 crash at the Reno Air Race, the NTSB said that air races (and by extension, airshows), despite all safety precautions, are an inherently dangerous event and no amount of safety will make it immune to accidents.
60 Minutes reported on this about a year ago. Nobody seemed to care, which leads me to conclude that nobody watches 60 minutes anymore.
So, by your logic, the Soviet-Afghan war has been overdone, because it lead to the war in Iraq
Ugh... an autoplaying video with TWO full length ads. Please don’t link any more AP videos. Link something from youtube... like this:
Ugh sorry for the autoplay video I can’t make it stop!
There are many reasons:
No, the Predator is pretty small. The Reaper is bigger (65ft wingspan). The Global Hawk is the big boy in the drone world, with a 130ft wingspan (larger than a 757).
While it’s absurd that people could be so clueless or disrespectful at such and important and solemn place, it is cool to see that they actually do properly guard the tomb and aren’t just there putting on a show.
