Does it seem strange that the Chinese would be developing a non-stealth attack aircraft at the same time as a stealth fighter and stealth attacker? Or have I just gotten used to the American way of “everything new must be the newest technology possible or its crap(!)”?

Everyone has addressed that its a stand off glide munition.

You are very badly misinformed. Please read the following:

I get what you’re saying. That article, for example, was great and it did have a lot of positive things to say about the F-35. Those stories just seem few and far between, whereas every other week we learn about a new problem or delay. The discussions in the comments do tend to boil down to the same few and horribly

The tech inside has been explored at length already. Very exciting and hopeful predictions were made about what that tech could mean for future air combat. The problem is, that stuff isn’t changing. Talking about it once is enough. The problems, however, continue to emerge and get reported. A short term memory is no

Because its super easy to just go back to school, learn how to do something completely different, get a job despite having a less than honorable service record, pay off student loans, and thus begin a new life. Right?

I agree that MANPADS will eventually make their way to the areas that Russia is bombing, be it through the Saudis or black market. But, if a Russian aircraft is shot down, I am much more concerned that Putin’s propaganda machine is ready to turn the blame on the US. They are already claiming that we are arming

It was a beautiful shot as the A380 emerged on the other side. Looks like footage for an advertisement.

As you know, the Premier loves surprises.

The key systems needed to keep the ship in the fight (command, navigation, and gunnery) are what Tyler noted as being protected by this structure. You could say it turns the battle around simply by enabling the ship to continue effective resistance after what would have been a disabling or fatal hit for other ships.

That article seems pointless. Its criticizing a light tank for being a light tank. You can have a lot of armor or mobility, not both. The M8 does step up the game by having armor kits for installation after airdrop, but it will still never be a main battle tank.

Yeah, how sad that we didn’t start WWIII.

While this particular situation in Syria obviously has the potential to become very volatile very quickly, I think it is important to note that there have been several engagements in the past between NATO and Soviet aircraft. Many of these resulted in crews killed or detained for periods, but never escalated into a

I’m familiar with the Falklands War, just not the entire history of the islands.

The Argies still think its theirs. I was just talking about the amtracs. Neat graphic though, didn’t know its history was so colorful.

This looks like it would wreak havoc on your spine. Hope the seats are well cushioned...

Well, the war was focused on an island that the Argentinians invaded. And they didn’t walk like the British chumps who landed at Port San Carlos.

I’m pretty sure they knew that too, but what would you have them do? Shoot down the Russian aircraft operating in foreign airspace with the consent of that government? The best they could have done was warn the rebels, and there is no way for us to know if that was done or possible.

Was that the rationale for not equipping another CIWS as with the previous flights of ships? I always wondered why they didn’t.

That an official procedure exists for this is very interesting. Thanks for the first hand knowledge!
